this, my dad is like that and wants to punch or kill gays and probably the rest of lgbt. I havent told him i am trans but Im defending the lgbt whenever someone says such evil stuff. So he gets asked why and we argue and in the end he usually comes around and says that im right and he shouldnt be so hateful of something that does no evil beyond existing. I like my grandfather, even though he has beaten my mother when she was young. I come from a family of fucked up individuals with no real sense of respect for anyone except him. He still excerts complete authority over us as a family, even though hes turned 80 a few years back.

Not you personally. He probably thinks no LGBTs is protecting you. Maybe just appreciate his love for you as a person and hide that you're also something he's repulsed by? He doesn't mean it against you yourself, he's still the same person you've always known, and he loves you just as much as if you were cishet as long as he doesn't know.
