>>803001New people don't know about /i/
Old people avoid /i/ drawthreads because of what they used to be like
The best drawthreads were the unscheduled ones on /b/, and sometimes other boards like /a/ or /v/ or /tg/ (/co/ excluded on purpose). But even on /b/ they got to be generals where gays larped back and forth with each other via drawn avatarfagging and tried to get EHG's attention and so on
I haven't been on drawchan in over a decade but I assume it's still more of that if it still exists
/i/ would sometimes get really good for a while and more people would find it or hear about it and the drawthreads would become like, well, just scroll through the general on /aco/ and you'll see what I mean
It was like that pretty often here just like other boards
Plus, the truth is that most people who can't draw don't want something whimsical and interesting drawn and even if they envision a cool unique pose or backdrop they may not be able to describe it or just don't want to seem more demanding
They mainly just want their fetish drawn for a list of specific characters for free
They also might not even stick around, or if they do just save and not reply like someone deleting a torrent the second it finishes. Not their problem/they feel awkward and don't know what to say.
Because of this artists come in and say taking requests while ignoring threads already full of them because they want to draw for someone who is at least there to see it, and also they'd rather get (you)s and think the requester likes their style particularly. So that way people can link them to previous requests if still around or make "fresh" ones. But then if there's too much of that in a high population thread the requesters will bite the hand that feeds and demand artists do requests already in thread or fuck off. So the artists fuck off to some other drawthread or stop taking requests.
It's a vicious inevitable cycle and it hasn't changed since at least 2007.
Just be glad you aren't in /aco/.
