Yet another Heaven Burns Thread where we got our story chapter and so much more.

Content has been overflowing, but don't forget to spoiler tag your thoughts for 5.2.2.
To most people's disappointment there has been no new unison style for the 3rd anni banner, but the style that have come out were generally looked at favorably.

On the EN server the second swimsuit event just dropped and brings with it some steamy triangle moments for Ruka/Yuina/Yukki. Chapter 4.2 is right around the corner as well. EN players don't have to suffer the 4.1 cliffhanger too long. The Sharo event is also right around the corner, which will bring our favorite ship back into the forefront: ShaRuka!

Sharo isn't even a proper yandere. She is obssessed, but she never does anything to anyone, because she is not really a violent girl.

If nothing else Sharo's event is one of the best written in the game and turns her from the gag character she was early on into a beloved character that even made it into the top 10 popularity poll.

How should I put it... everything about this is a bad idea. It feels like filler in one of the most tense and plot driven chapters. It actively hurts the quality of what has been an excellent chapter until now. I hate that there is so much focus on male characters.

That being said, I do enjoy the basic interactions still. I can't help it, Maeda knows how to write fun characters groups. The jokes might be lame, but it can keep your attention. It's just that it is happening at the worst time, under the most forced circumstance. How many times do we need an amnesia subplot?

For the actual content... eh. I guess this will cause something interesting to happen with 31C? Wakki is always a good tsukkomi? But I can't get over the fact that Maeda thought it was a good idea to make one of the first interactions of this filler to have Wakki fake confess to the main dude. Fuck you Maeda. There were a million different ways to get the plot point about his dead girlfriend going and you used THIS? Blurgh. Obviously it's immediately written off as a prank, but if this starts a goddamn ship I will strangle him myself.

I think the only lore relevant bits that really matter here is that Seraph members literally cannot hear the current year and that dome citizens get microchips implanted into them to be tracked.
The first one was hinted at in 4.1 when Tezuka asked what year it is and Yukki freaking out. Seraph members are clearly brainwashed to avoid thinking about inconsistencies. This reminds me of the Miya event where her mind was trying to shut down when she found out her sister is alive and 30 years older. I KNEW there was so mindfuckery involved.
The chip thing is just another Orwellian nightmare scenario. The military rule really is as despotic as it seems.

Is this...a hint towards the situation in the Garden of Memories? Maeda said the place itself is not story relevant, but he did write/oversee the memory episodes. Kura/Aoi hinted at something in theirs.
Like... Ruka just randomly dreams of Kura like that? This HAS to mean something, no? Especially because it only happens now.

Anyway... Nothing much happened beyond that. I understand that Tezuka kept the Wakki sitation hidden, but she should know by now that you can't really skirt around these topics with Ruka. Sharo's event should have taught her that.
31C is apparently searching for her and I love the detail that for the first time if you go to Mari's shop to buy mods and chips she is not there. Just some random shop clerk. Cool detail.
Also 31X is helping with the search... they have just been off-screen scouting and looking for missing people all chapter lol

Karen-chan learning how to compose music so fast is almost just on brand for SiL at this point, but I'm curious which song this is. it doesn't sound like White Spell, even though the SiL version was used in the trailer. Karerin being locked in because Karen-chan is pulling an allnighter is sad.

In one chapter she says that there is no point to coming to see her there, because Ruka can do it all on the dencho, so she must care about Higuchi more than the seraph.

It's nice to go on a mission again but that meteor really is otherworldly.. the outside is smaller than the inside. Talk about bent space. I doubt it was intentional though. These new Cancer types are just reskins of course, but they do make them feel distinct enough.

What is the point of this? The E-shield tutorial even showed 31F in the battle, but genuinely who isnt going to use 31A who have infinite fire moves?
I get that you can decrease the elemental shield even just with element charged basic attacks from gear, but who is gonna hit it 20 times with normal attacks?
Maru-chan's arc here seemed weirdly recursive. She should be long over battlefield jitters by now that she led her own unit into battle countless times. This isn't U140 anymore.

Awakened Tsukasa... is just too good. That joke about TsukaYukki not being a thing when Yukki praised her was good enough, but the way she called Karerrin "Ojou-chan" in that flippant way gave me actual tingles. Why can't the damn ASMR thing be like this?
Karerin seems to be about to get to a breakthrough. You dont even have to choose the correct action anymore, she is now confident enough to know what she should have done differently. Interesting.
Meanwhile Karen-chan goes nuts about how she will be the best song writer of all time and make a billion yen lol
Actually, this day really let Yukki connect with both of them, which is a welcome sight. I dont think she has shouted her lungs out once yet either.

I really liked the joint 31X mission. Maybe it's because Kai is familiar with the squad, but you can really tell that the interactions are way more natural than with 31F. Sharo calling the dungeon her and Ruka's love nest though... haha
This time the E-shield was ice, which neither 31A nor 31X have any style for (new Tsukasa cant do damage). At least the dungeon provides ice chains you can equip. Kinda awkward still.
The meteorites contain liquid that turns water solid as a countermeasure against dropping into water. So Cancer's dislike of water is actually that innate? What happens if it rains? I hope we get more info about that.

I've been looking for Otama-san all over the base for 3 days and now she randomly hangs out with Yukki. Those two repeating the same Tsukasa/Megumin interaction took out some of its ominous atmosphere lol
While Karen-chan is just having a gay ol' time as a musician, Karerin totally struggles. That dialogue with Tsukasa was basically just white noise at this point...
Karerin really thought she was done just by figuring out how Karen-chan came to be? That really was naieve. Showing her what the world was like after Karen-chan was born pretty much just means that Karen-chan has been bottling up the trauma and memories of the murders for her. She will actually have to become strong enough to handle the trauma that Karen-chan was born from and shielded her against. So much for the dead Tsukasa CG being a bad ending.

Base Watch!
-Isuzu loses Duelo only because she cant handle how roughly Ruka treats the pieces (especially Ichiko's)
-Vri wants to film viral dance video with Carole
-Sumomo suggest Tama put her head into Byakko's maw for trust practice (this happened on a previous day, I just forgot)

Side W:
Why is this game suddenly so bloody? And is chapter 5 the battle vs. nature era? First the bear, now the wild boar. Holy shit Wakki is metal.

Yes, there are two instances that come to mind. Chapter 4.1 has one day where it rains during the dungeon run and Byakko's event has a few battles during a rainy day. Clearly Cancer can operate in rain, but the question is if it negatively affects them at all. But you'd think the military figured that much out a while ago and would plan missions around rainy weather.

This might honestly be it. But one thing that made me curious during the Shikoku parts in the first half was that the meteor Cancer arrived on clearly sunk into the ocean alongside the entire city. And all the Cancer on that island are sealife themed. It might just be a visual choice with no meaning, but it does give food for thought.

Like I said, Tsukasa's VA clearly has the chops to do proper yuri ASMR. That "Ojou-chan" was devastating. But personally I just think Isuzu's VA is the obvious choice. She already did a bunch of crazy lines with female pronouns, even whispering into ears. She is way too good at that. It's right up her alley.

The other anon whined about Yukki shouting, but I want her to deafen me so I dont have to hear that Onii-san bullshit.

I mean just reading the line in the screenshot should already be enough. She is saying she COULD have fallen in love with him if the world wasn't the way it was and they didn't literally just meet a couple of days ago. She isn't saying she is in love with him or that she will be.
Like I said there is context to this about Wakki looking like his ex-girlfriend blah blah blah interpersonal drama. The translation is also really bad. The context of the joke was that she thought she was on a reality TV show (because of her amnesia) and thought getting to the big confession scene would cause the show to end. Here she laments that she played that off as a mean joke and hurt his feelings.

I get why they chose Waki for her filler arc, but man was it just for one specific purpose. The main issue is that Karerin and Waki don't even know each other like that. If they were a bit closer, the RULES OF NATURE vs school trauma would've hit harder. It doesn't help that Waki gained the RULES OF NATURE within the span of less than a week. It's a good contrast conceptually, but there just isn't a way for it to happen without it feeling forced. I did like how Megumi said Waki was aura farming during her filler arc though. Ultimately Waki was just a tool to show that contrast, but it really didn't add anything for her character, well except... man that ending to her arc and then her new memory story to boot... Who thought Waki would end up being public enemy #1 while Higuchi is based

I wish Karen-chan would've spent more time with each 31A member individually and even Iroha who was impacted by her. It would've also been great if we could see the concrete events of her past instead of the what-if vignettes. And I get the reason for why she did what she did, but if they included that her time was already waning so she wanted to prepare Karerin, it would've been perfect

Basically most of these can just be done by auto-battling in the arena, as long as you dont turn the game off. But Miya's sucks so bad... gotta have to keep giving her SP so she can ult over and over. Sigh. I guess I will do it like with Hisame and put Yanagi into her party and disable all skill except the SP boost and Miya's ult.

It's not just the shield, the shield is just the latest case. They're worse at dealing with the gold hoppers. Their aoe attacks are 1 hit, so they can't break and kill even the weakest shitter with them. And there's more stuff like that. Do they get anything to make up for it? It starts out like a horror movie and gets quite dark... but I don't even know what to say. Hang in there Karerin?

Of the missions this one is definitely the most interesting. They picked the squads that generally don't get much attention for these missions in the first place, but for the Ohshima family this was a big deal. Out of all the squads they feel like they have the least combat power and generally their events deal with emotional trauma and not strong adversaries, so you never really got to see them overcome this kind of obstacle. Showing them perform this mission solo when all the otheer squads got 31A back-up was obviously deliberate and the praise they got at the end was really uplifiting. 31E is a seriously strong squad in its own right. Feels like that is the message.
Seems the writers are trying to make up for the lack of gaynees in Isuzu's event by making her an absolute menace around Ichiko lately and I'm all for it.

As for the Cancer's strategy, using the fibbonaci sequence to calculate how to flatten the Seraph main base is pretty smart. Too smart for mindless swarms. Anyway, can't believe Tsukasa is going to solo a meteor with a helicopter and badly strapped Aegis cannon. If I hadn't watched the trailer I would be more surprised I guess. I wonder if that counter really was given to her for this purpose...
Actually glad Tezuka is sill evacuating the base. Can't bet it all on one crazy girl. I didn't get why they act like the base being destroyed would set them back years though. They just established a new base at Aegis Tower and a forward base in Osaka. They can continue the Kyushu campaign from there?

At this point I can't really separate the two parts anymore, so let's just do it in one.
That outcome was very abrupt. Am I glad the dude died? Yes. Not so glad about how much Wakki pretends to care about this random guy she knew for like 5 days while she had amnesia.
I love how Tezuka was apparently waiting to have that call with Wakki the entire time. That woman is always on the ball.

So killing a couple of boars and seeing some rando die really got Wakki's brain going full rough and tough survivor. Good for her I guess. Frankly I don't think Wakki was the right choice for this. This topic and confrontation feels like something Ichigo or Sumomo should have done, two girls who are actual killers and suffer from their past actions all the time. They are prime examples of killers who still walk the path of light and actually keep living to fight another day. I suppose they aren't really proud of their strength though, so that might be the one area they lack in? I can see why Maeda didn't want to have Ichigo give another amazing speech so soon, but when the shoe fits...

Anyway, I'm shocked Karen-chan didn't come out to slaughter Wakki. But Karerin actually stood up for herself. The duel with Wakki was pretty cool, but it's insane that Tezuka just agreed to this after getting so angry at everyone who tries to fight each other with seraphs. On the other hand she has straight up fought all of 31A at the same time and trains Ruka 1 on 1 personally, so she was never consistent.
Also Tezuka's shock at seeing a seraphim code and the seraph change tells us a lot.

I think beyond Wakki just feeling out of place in this scenario, what bothers me is how 31C was completely side-lined. They are generally speaking one of the most tightly knit squads, so it feels like a total waste. Bungo was a literal afterthought to the whole situation. I sure hope there will be some follow-up on that front.

That aside, Tsukasa deciding to hinge her entire plan on the fact that Karerin is good at FPS games is amazing. The sheer cocky gambling addict in her is unstoppable. No wonder she ran into an enemy base personally, got captured and killed as a human. Brilliant strategy, let's see how it works out for them!

The one who got everyone out of their funk in 4.1 was Ruka, with the exception of Megumin who needed to realize her own shit without 31A.
It's true that outsiders definitely help sometimes, but that's more of a sign that the seraph squad as a whole are holding each other up. Yuina was there for Ruka when she needed it, Higumin was there for Yukki. But those pairs are close to begin with.

This situation on the other hand feels way different, because Wakki literally has no connection to Asakura at all. When she helped Megumin in 4.2, that felt more natural. Maeda tried to pivot it more towards Wakki's inferiority complex towards 31A and how she let out her frustrations on Karerin in my view, but it still is just not quite right.

Wakki had an arc and 31C basically did not factor into it. That's not good. You had mirroring circumstances with Wakki losing her memory like Bungo does, but they did nothing with that at all. 31C's reaction to Wakki's disappearance was limited to some barebones side mentions and background lines. I said it before starting the chapter, but with Bungo's memory resetting only every 10 days now, it would be possible for them to entirely avoid the complications that it would bring in this scenario... and that's exactly what they did. Those 6 days were conveniently exactly in that time span.

All I ask is that there be some kind of acknowledgement of how 31C feels about all this. I havent beaten the chapter yet, so it may still come, but I doubt it. This might be a matter that will be addressed another time.

Yes. It's the auto function. But if the thing you need to translate is outside that box you have to move it.

No. Machine translation simply can't be perfect. Even when it works you will have to adjust settings and try repeatedly in some cases. Image interference will also play a part in having to adjust all the time.
Just remember that these translators simply use a internal dictionary or deepL to translate lines, so they can't be better than those translators themselves.

I don't trust AI translations anymore than regular MTL. In my opinion basic understanding of the language and some good language feel are required to make good use of machine translations, as they should just aid you and not replace your ability to understand. If you aren't good with kanji, then an OCR can be very useful. But it helps to just instinctively understand if a translation is off somehow.

I don't think I can even convey my feelings properly right now. What a finale. As usual HBR creates more questions than it answers.

Strictly sticking to the plot, there has been no explanation for who gave Tsukasa the countdown and how they knew ahead of time that the Cancer would send meteors for the main base. And more importantly why they chose such a roundabout warning. If it really was Tsukasa's mother turned narby, then she would have to act as a rogue element for some reason. Which would imply that whoever is holding her didn't want to warn the Seraph squad for some reason? Tezuka said that she talked with command about the situation, but in 4.1 she also said there is no 2 way communication. Command just issues orders and she can't even inquire or talk back. So if command was working with her intel and made a plan that would imply they wanted to stop the destruction of the base, right? It doesn't add up.

That meteor Cancer had the ability to bend minds, phase shift like Flathand and create new Cancer on the spot. If it wasn't a mother Cancer larva or something it sure as hell seems similar.

Doing the final dungeon with just 4 party members was actually rough and I had to sneak around more to avoid battles. The dungeon design was really cool with the surprise attacks and the landscape interactions.
Having to beat another final boss with only 5 party member was painful, but unlike when we were lacking a debuffer, losing the buffer actually could be sort of counteracted with suit Tama and self-buffs. I understand now why they make you use that new Karerin style. All its skills are multihit elemental that shred through the E-shield of the boss.

Speaking of the boss, I think it's called Kaleidoboros? Metal as fuck. It felt really fresh. E-shields aside, the ability to confuse who you are attacking, one-hit kill ult that it charges until you break the shield and spawning more minions make it feel like a mix of both Flathands.

Tezuka resigning from command and giving it to Nanami of all people seems really dumb on the surface. Nanami is completely unfit for the position and Tezuka has a huge drive to see Japan reclaimed, so why would she ever do that?
I think she is going rogue for a while. Get out of the influence of the arctic command and figure out what is really going on. Why she picked this time I can't say. Maybe the Kyushu operation is so important that command will be solely focused on that?

I apologize for the absolute walls of text I'm going to subject this thread to, but the KareTsuka content of this chapter gets my mind spinning endlessly. I may have finally found the words to convey my thoughts. ALL of these posts will be spoilers for 5.2, so just don't read them if you aren't finished with it, alright? I really dont want to spoiler tag it all.

First of all, I can scarcely believe that the same writer who did that trite, by the books, basic as fuck heteronormative garbage Wakki side-story also wrote the immaculately complex dynamic between KareTsuka. It makes me wonder if I'm giving Maeda too much credit? Did I just overanalyze? But the pieces are all there and this wasn't a rushjob, so I will just have to believe.

From the very beginning of the chapter Karen-chan is put into an antagonisitc role, but at the same time she is building rapport with 31A in benign ways. She is clearly a martyr. Everything she does is for the sake of Karerin. But that has always been clear. I think the most important lynchpin to the situation here is what Tsukasa and Tezuka acknowledged. Karerin is the one with all the potential, Karen-chan's brute fighting style is reaching its limits. The only reason the military allowed a literal serial killer personality to stick around despite having the CURE to multiple personality disorder already, is that Karerin is mentally weak and unable to fight herself. They kept her mentally ill on purpose just so she would be more useful, which is really fucked up. Karen-chan knew this though and has also realized that she reached her limits, she can no longer grow. She is afraid that the same thing with Aoi, Kura and Ruka will repeat, a loss that will break Karerin and make her completely leave everything to Karen-chan, who can no longer protect her.

She puts her through all these trials solely for the sake of making Karerin strong enough to stand on her own. And they were all right, Karerin is a total combat genius who can defeat a steeled Wakki in a day without any combat experience. Karen-chan trained her body, but Karerin is completely superior as a fighter.

So she props up Karerin and fully expects to be erased from the very beginning. But in that time, whether she wants to admit it or not, she struggles to leave a legacy, to give her existence meaning outside of Karerin. This is obviously represented by the song she's trying to compose halfway through the chapter, but even beyond that she enjoys life to the fullest while she can. Karen-chan has saved 31A several times across the story. Without her Ruka and Tama would be dead by now. She was integral even if she never acknowledges it. Just like the song, she never gets to leave her regrets behind. She tries to deny it all. But in her final moments she admits it... that she had a wonderful youth with her friends.

What matters here is that all of this was in tandem with Tsukasa's own support. It was no coincidence that Tsukasa always appeared when Karerin snuck out of Karen-chan's prison. At first I thought it was just a cute detail that Tsukasa was pretending to "accidentally" stumble on her, but now it's clear that Karen-chan also knew about these meetings. Awakened Tsukasa and Karen-chan have a much tighter understanding of each other than anybody else in the story. Tsukasa knew from the start what Karen-chan was doing and assisted as best as she could to help Karerin grow. She understood why Karen-chan was trying to live out her final existence and never pushed for her to leave, despite clearly prefering Karerin. Tsukasa is not the type to put up with people she dislikes, so it should have been obvious from the start.

Tsukasa understood that Karerin has more potential, that she is more "useful". But to Tsukasa who portrays all of her actions around 31A as "using" them, this is still different. She clearly has personal investment. For a total loner who never had friends to constanrtly go on about youth and being able to experience rapport with comrades in war... it's obvious, isn't it? Tsukasa is the loneliest person of all. Much like the battle maniac Karen-chan, the only way for her to connect to 31A is to be useful in missions. She explains her philosophy by pointing out the horrors of society and social circles that turned Karerin into a serial killer. To her human relationships outside of her insane adoration for her mother are all poisoned.

But she is the only one who acknowledged Karen-chan's will in the end. When she rebuked Ruka as an "outfielder" that really hit the hardest. She doesn't acknowledge anyone but Asakura Karen on her own level. She hates Ruka's goody-two-shoes act, as established in 5.1, but more than anything her bond with Karen is something that she build herself. Throughout the entire chapter awakened Tsukasa is trying to connect to 31A herself and everyone treats her as useful and amazing, but they fail to really connect. The main issue always seems to be that she never tried before and now it feels like it's too late. The one that they all see as Tsukasa is Dumbkasa. The revenge that she sought has cost her the ability to make friends in the most roundabout way.

That line is probably what it all boils down to. Tsukasa has an inflated ego, but even if she frames this as "you should be confident in yourself because an amazing person like me chose you for her plan", what she really means is that she chose Karerin as the one person she truly wants to be with. The sheer implications of that moment are so powerful that I really fucking hope Maeda did that intentionally.
I really enjoyed that helicopter segment in general. Tsukasa singing SiL songs to create a rhythm for Karerin to shoot down the meteor's defense systems was brilliant. These kinds of sequences are what makes HBR so special.

Anyway, Tsukasa truly and fully appreciates Asakura Karen's existence. And this is where Dumbkasa comes in. While awakened Tsukasa acknowledges Karen-chan's will, Dumbkasa who never puts on any pretenses finally comes out for the second time in the entire chapter to lament that she doesn't want Karen-chan to disappear. She is the ONLY one in 31A who actually cares about Karen-chan. The rest, even Ruka and Tama, are only concerned for Karerin and the mental stress this decision puts on her. But Dumbakasa cries tears for Karen-chan's death. Her pained words about how she was the only one who tried to bond with Karen the most and yet she never got asked her opinion actually crushed me....

All those times where Tsukasa awakened seemingly at random in response to Karen-chan meant something. She was trying to keep up with karen-chan who she was afraid of, in the only way she knew. By awakening each time, even if it caused her headaches and made her afraid of disappearing forever. Tsukasa may not have split personalities technically speaking, but she is much happier as Dumbkasa. She can make friends, is social and cute. She can be who she never had a chance to be when she was alive. Her fear of losing that is clear. But she keeps awakening regardless, for the sake of getting closer to Karen-chan... all to keep her promise that she would be there for Karerin no matter what, that she made in 4.1. Tsukasa just is that kind of deeply loyal person. Whether it be her mother or Karen.

When she fulfilled her goal of diverting the meteor and got approval from her "mother" with the final counter message, that could have been where she drops out. The insane awakeneding backlash combined with the shrapnel wound nearly break her down. She reverts to Dumbkasa in that moments. But what keeps her going? The memories of her fun times with 31A and especially from watching Karerin and Karen-chan. She is literally in every flashback. Even though she is clearly way beyond her limit in every way, she goes back to the final battle and forces herself to awaken again. Because Dumbkasa was fine to kill herself off to save the people that matter to her..

When awakened Tsukasa is nearly fainting in Karerin's arms and says that she was feeling honest that probably had a double meaning too. Either way she was fueled by wanting to be with Karerin. So when Dumbkasa returns in the final moment only for it to be too late and Karerin already having taken the pill that kills Karen-chan she obviously tells her true feelings. Karerin assuring her that she will take all of Karen-chan's passion with her, as they are the same person... I think that moment reassured Dumbkasa herself who feels like she has no right to exist when awakened Tsukasa is the one who is really needed. She painfully relates to Karen-chan, a fleeting fake existence. That's why she cried for her in Iroha's event after all.

Karerin's promise is almost the inverse of their promise in 4.1. Assuring Tsukasa she will always be there for her. God I love this so much.

Obviously there are immense romantic overtones to KareTsuka and I wouldn't have minded if it had gone a bit beyond just A!Tsukasa acknowledging Karerin is her type and Karerin saying Tsukasa-san is the type that she could easily fall for. Like I said, that "I chose you" as as close to a confession as they could get at this point. There is still too much baggage. But I would say they are fairly close to RukaYukki now when it comes to how genuine their feelings for each other are.

KareTsuka are the best ship/pairing in this game. Nothing comes even close to the writing at display here and I won't change my mind on that.

I'm not telling people what their favorite ship should be of course. I rather enjoy the cute dynamic of Isuzu/Ichiko myself. However, it is hard to compare a major main ship to a side-pairing that only gets some crumbs occasionally. The depth of KareTsuka is just on another level.

Of course for ships the personal like or dislike of characters matters a lot. If someone disliked Tsukasa or Karen, then there is no doubt that it would be harder to appreciate the complexity of the ship too. Personally I'm rather bored of RukaYukki, a ship that is very bland and by the books, but completely oversaturates the entire game and fandom. While RukaYukki most definitely has its moments of complexity too, it simply can't measure up to pairings with an inherently more interesting dynamic like KareTsuka, Isuzu/Ichiko or HisaIno.

I'm afraid that I often fall for the ships with more ambiguity and subtext myself. There is something captivating about a pairing you can treat like a puzzle. In comparison straightforward lovey-dovey couples that just say "I love you" and kiss as their only main interactions are... too basic. Even if they are more solid for yuri purposes. Not that I would complain if HBR finally got to that point with ANY ship.

I just noticed, but this chapter is the first time Tama has ever actually addressed Karerin... ever. She calls her "Karen-san" which she has literally never done once in the entire game. Isn't it insane how these two never interacted before? Tama only ever got moments with Karen-chan.
This really supports the whole theme of "I was never part of 31A" of the chapter. I rather like that.

5.2's chapter title is "White Spell and the end of the world", right? I think the world being refered to here is actually Asakura's inner world she shares with Karen-chan. White spell generally has healing connotations, which might be about Karerin being cured of her split personality.

Normal route: Just don't use it anymore. In AB, they changed the lead vocalist, removing the shout part is not such a drastic change in comparison.
Weird route: Make Karen do it anyway, even though it makes very little sense.
??? route 1: Use DEATH Tojo setup, and make Tsukasa do it.
??? route 2: Use Megumi's voice modulation introduced in 5.1 and do voice distortion instead of screamo
I have a feeling they might use an interlude for that.

After watching THAT scene again, I realized that this full version is still not complete. In that scene there is a choir and an extra part where Konomi's vocals go crazy. I wish I could find that version. Wonder if it will be exclusive to that scene in the game forever.

I will now dub this AI the Yuribot for ease of use.
To me it seems artists and fans understood the true potential and angst of the Yuribot more than Maeda himself did. There is so much more one could do with this scenario, although I think he intentionally limited himself to around chapter 1 status quo for the anni event, but it was definitely not a fully explored topic.

For one I think Maeads sucks at time loop narratives. He has done it three times now in events and the only one where I think he halfway succeeded was Swimsuit 2. I mean come on, the entire appeal of time loop narratives it seeing the varied suffering of the protag as they try to break out of the loop. Swimsuit 4 failed because they barely tried different things and the conclusion was a bit too simplistic.

This simulation on the other hand is a time loop where we are already billions of loops in. We see the end stage of the Yuribot already knowing every possible outcome and variation, so we can't relate to it properly. We only experience one proper loop and then the conclusion of another. It's not really effective enough.

For this event I think the most powerful way to handle it would have been to emphasize that this is just a simulation and the parameters in it are fixed so the simulated Ruka cant break out of her programming. Hence why there are not many ways to change the "narrative". The Yuribot already resigned to this.
Would it not be way more effective to see Ruka somehow evolve her programming like the AI did and that's why she wrote a completely new song instead of Burn My Soul for Yuribot in the end? That is sort of what happened, but it is not remotely addressed and you never experienced the "Oh this same song again" feeling for chapter 1's conclusion.

I think swimsuit 4 loop turned out the way it did because of the event budget/time constraints. He put too much into the first few days, so the resources/screen time for the loop were limited, and he had to write it in a way where he could reuse the same development and not create a lot of variation.

How much budget do you really need for something that reuses so many assets? The most budget it would take is the 3D live. Of course there is still manpower required to program the rest of the event, but Swimsuit 4 really didn't have much else added to it. A couple of CGs and new swimsuit sprites for Megumin and Karen plus child Lumi (and I guess one each for Punished Lumi, Bar Lady and Ice Cream Guy). Even the boss was a Rotary Mole redesign.
I didnt get the sense that swimsuit 4 was a high budget event like Swimsuit 2, where they actually created entire 3D environments, dozens of CGs and BGs and 3 new swimsuit sprite sets.

Well, I'm not privvy to the budget restrictions of events of course, so you might be right. Events around that time last year took a huge hit in ressources clearly. Though I feel they recovered around the time of Aina's event.

The characters salivating are also actually the girls, ya know? The main issue with the first half of the event is that Tama and Tsukasa keep saying bullshit about how men cant resist Yuina or something retarded along those lines, but in essence it's just Tama, Tsukasa, Karen and even Megumin being gay for Yuina. Ruka being gay for Yukki too etc. Ruka's reaction to Yukki in a swimsuit was great.

Yeah the summer games in this event feel a bit fillerish, but it's for the atmosphere. And the jokes are generally good. I really love the running gag of Tama suffering every time she has to go fight Cancer or how Tama/Tsukasa are completely biased against Ruka in the contest.

Anyway, Day 2 has a lot of very important yuri moments and the second half of the event is pretty significant. Stop being a baby and finish it.

NTA, but let's not pretend like the story in this game is good to the point you need to keep up with every little thing.
I'd say, FOR A GACHA, it's quite nice, especially being fully voiced. But it's still progressing everything at a snail's pace (gacha hell), being padded to hell and back with filler. Events also started to degrade pretty hard as they can't (?) go further than whatever status quo exists. Take the second Adel Mari event, and compare it to the first as an example, and even Isuzu's event was pretty meh as a result (my actual favorite character, so having to say this hurts).

All they do is look at the past of characters (but this is getting harder as we already have done this for pretty much all popular ones), and advance the story by 2 hours every year, with tons of stretching / filler on top. This is dragging things down HARD. Events need to be allowed to DO something. They are permanent and don't need to be playable without doing the later main story chapters, but the clear-rate seems so bad they aren't "allowed" to do this.
I could be mean and say that the clear-rate is so bad because the game doesn't progress the story much anyways AND nothing much is locked behind clearing that very story. But it's probably a little more involved than just that. I hope.

If you don't enjoy an event, skip it. Games are supposed to be fun, and you won't find everything fun, especially not in gacha that need to cater to oh so many tastes. Though I understand if your favorite character(s) get a meh to bad event, that stings.

Finished the new chapter. I like it but also there are some problems:
- The whole thing with Wakki seems unnecessary unless Maeda has some plans for her in the future. It feels similar to his events but up to now Maeda usually restrains himself from putting plots like these in the main story. There were also no need for Wakki to have amnesia, just having her 電帳 being broken and having the hunters' boat broken and takes a few days to fix or something should've been enough. I didn't mind the guy but Giara also has no need to be a guy, having him being female would fit the game much better and less risky so it's a weird choice they made there.
- Sumomo feels like a better choice to be in this scenario than Wakki. She actually has to kill to make a living before and also has a wilder, animalistic side to her. Having her failed to protect someone for the third time would also give a better excuse for that scene with Karerin since she probably looked like a lion having depression for having to kill to survive.
- In the first place they can do this very same scenario with a seraph squad that people are familiar with and care about rather than with random NPCs. Just make them having a helicop crash and a to survive a few days without their seraphs. If it has to be Wakki no matter what I think if she almost failed to protect Bun-chan then the scene with Karerin might have a bit more impact.
- The boss also reused Flathand 1 final move which is somewhat disappointing considering how intimidating it looks (especially in the PV).

This was my thought too. But Maeda despite championing yuri so much is very heteronormative in his writing still. He seems to think that yuri has to be justified and is extraordinary, needs build-up etc. Meanwhile het is the expected standard, so it is very easy to just say "girl will probably eventually like dude" with zero set-up. In general Maeda is in love with the idea of being in love. He doesn't much care about the relationship or the actual dating steps. There is a real pattern to his writing where the idea of loving someone is romanticized, but the actual... well love part is secondary. This terrible Wakki scenario shows that. It's not that she was in love with the random dude. It's "I could have fallen in love with him", like the possibility of such a soap opera thing was taken from her after her memory returned. It's so fragrantly inhuman and meta.

I dont know what you mean by it reused the final movel unless you mean the phase shifting? Whatever this thing actually is, it's not surprising it has such an OP ability too. The fact that it can break minds just by being proximity already made it basically impossible to fight unless someone specific like Karerin with high resistance to that stuff could break it.
It's charge attack is also a one-hit kill, which is pretty fucking intimidating if you ask me.

Yes, the big move is a one-hit kill, completely unblockable even by Aoi. Taking three turns is only really a problem if it summons to mobs and uses its confusion move on your multi-hit elemental attackers, as that makes it hard to break its shield in time. Man that Monaka art is rough. Meanwhile it's almost unfair how Chie always gets blessed with great art. Chie I think could be a pretty broken SP generator especially when going against multiple enemies and with 3rd anni Yuina. Against one enemy though, it's a tiny bit suspect. Monaka is kinda awkward to use without Yuina, but pretty good with her. Great transferrable skill for her AOE version too. That said a pattern with these new styles lately is the complete powercreep of consumable and stackable buffs. Now we got styles like Monaka who rely and thrive on multi turn, non stacking buffs. Guess this is the new wave now.
Welp hoping for a mid month Kura and Miya I guess, especially with Kura's frankly strong skill upgrade. I'm not liking this pattern of shop upgrades though. I would much rather them just add new tower levels and let me kill their shadow clones. Also, no new arts for the new season? Or have they just not been added in yet? That was the problem early on, and they've been going harder and harder into speeding this up. A good team by now tends to rarely auto attack.

Who knows, with what Monaka got now, we might see more and more "normal attack change" abilities. Maybe we get our own Lunatic mind eye, risk taker and so on soon, one time only normal attack replacer abilities.
Also stupid EN translators for this game changed mind eye's name so you don't even realize the connection to WFS's other game... this is why you should always think twice renaming stuff for the hell of it.

Once again WFS does not understand the appeal of their cool characters. Which is weird, because her SS2 was actually a 100/100. And Misarin getting the hyper-dyke magnet suit despite generally being considered one of the cute characters gave me hope.

What are the chances this will pair with Kura's SS3? They would be smart to do that, especially because Kura already has a ninja skillset.

Aside from the fact that this is insane, it will be really hard to retroactively justify this never coming up again anywhere in the entire game. Unless it really is a dream or something that undoes itself like the swimsuit events...

Also as this takes place before the 31st gen even appears, there is literally no room for Suga/Minori interactions, so I think we're out of luck on any ship fuel. At most I see some YuiMiya happening, if at all. KuraMona are generally too quiet about their feelings to give us any cute moments.

I can't really see them doing an entire event with just 30G and no other cast members. That may work with 31A, but 30G is a bit trickier to manage. They have been pretty consistently side-stepping this in all 30G events. Would be challenging.
So my guess is that this event will take place in the present, but flash back to the past. That would also help with the continuity. They can address this plot point in present day.

What I'm more unsure about is where this chapter will be locked. If it takes place prior to even the Prologue, then lazy as fuck WFS will probably lock it behind chapter 1, even though it is 120% going to reference dynamics and stuff players only learn about in chapter 3+ as usual.

Some variety in styles with limit breaks can't hurt, at least LB 1 for styles that you actually use, but having some very strong core styles should let you farm higher level rewards, so I'd say 200%.

I finally played the new memory episodes.

Wakki:
Interesting one. I think they want to wash away the stench of het a bit with this one. Higumin making Wakki understand the power of same-sex love is great as is, but Wakki is clearly super weak to it, so that's confirmation enough she isn't a hetshitter. Those honest reactions to Yuina and Nanamin were good, but I love how she was actually looking forward to Tezuka's adult charms.
Tezuka is also the only one who understood she is being hit on and shut it down, which tells me that she is used to being flirted with. She has so many female fans that she probably has to constantly fend off girls lol
Higumin has both a smell fetish and a control fetish. It's so obvious when she talks about how it excited her to mess with a girl in the palm of her hands that she is talking about Ichigo. HiguIchi is becoming more canon every day.

Tsukasa:
The moment kareTsuka actually addressed the player directly to tell them to put in headphones I actually gagged. The VA isnt even trying to sound like Karen-chan either during it...
Because I want my ears to become deaf after this shit I kept the Yukki voice on. She screamed me into perfect oblivion. Fuck that Onii-san shit.
That aside, the actual "ASMR" got really off the rails quickly, so that's a relief. It was pretty funny. Trimming ear hair, smearing butter on Yukki and turning her into baked goods. This is some top tier bullying.

Monaka:
Pairing Monanyan with HisaIno was actually really good. Tsukishiro's is such a cinnamon roll who can't see Hisame's uncouth behaviour at all, while Inori has to deal with the mental damage. I also like how this became an extension of Ruka's weird games with Monanyan and how they had a positive effect on her. If she had met Ruka earlier, maybe she could have opened her heart faster and be more honest with Kura...
This is another case of character development being hidden in a memory episode for a character who doesnt get attention in the main story.

If you know that RukaYukki is the main pairing then what is the question even about? RukaYuina does get consistent fuel, so if you are fine with just getting teased you will be fed. More than some other secondary pairings, that's for sure. They got a freaking unison style after all.

Pretty much everyone has a pairing. Ruka likes to flirt with every girl, but her canon pairing is with Yuki. I don't really know how to describe Yuina's pairing status. If Yuki didn't exist, she'd probably be the main ship for Ruka, but teasing is the most you'll get for that pair.

I feel like Ruka was playing around a lot more early on before all these pairings among the cast developed. I definitely like this situation more.

Definitely. She used to regularly hit on girls like Yunyun just because she enjoyed it. But her focus has clearly narrowed over time to Yukki and to a degree Yuina. Sharo is mostly one-sided, but persistent.
In fact I feel like Swimsuit 4 and 5.2 was the first time in a whiiile that Ruka made sexual comments about Karerin. Probably because KareTsuka are always orbiting each other.

While Monaka loves Kura, there is no doubt that it is Ruka who made her happy in her abscence. She's the one who made her softer and more in touch with her heart.
Now maybe Ruka herself is not quite that emotionally attached to Monanyan, but she most certainly build a strange bond with Kura that still reveberates in the main story, which is completely different from Aoi, who Ruka has mostly gotten over. Kura's event made clear that Kura also enjoyed herself around Ruka despite the superficial jealousy.
It's not solid or anything, but there is definitely a weird triangle that could have formed here if circumstances had been different.

I looked into it and players on Xitter pointed out that Mona has the same braid as Kura. They also have similar ornaments. And of course it's the same inn/bridge in the background.

Considering RukaYukki is unambiguously the supported main ship, the fact that RukaYui is this insanely popular is pretty impressive. Of course both Maeda and the devs do push it quite a bit themselves, so maybe not that surprising.

Aoi doesnt have a different personality that has to catch up on styles though. Karerin is the main fighter going forward, so it makes sense to give future styles to her. Unless they go through the effort of making it a toggle, which I find highly unlikely.

They clearly played around with several ideas, like all those events where they give you a premade team and force you to use that. But that might have upset some people because it is too "restrictive". The very early events that forced you to use only a certain squad's members, but you had to use your own styles were even worse. So many people struggled with Requiem for the Blue because nobody had 31B styles and you couldnt even use Aoi....

And then there is the feature where they disable a certain character from being used. They only did that like... 4 times? 3 times in the main story and once in Niina's event, for like one fight. They clearly didn't feel too confident about that.

We'll see if they will invest the effort to add this new feature to all events. I think most devs wouldn't. But WFS is unpredictable.

I can tell the modelers and animator were really having fun with this event. The way Suganyan parkours smoothly across the base and that shot where the Cancer fall from the sky for an ambush are really nice. They are getting more confident in letting the player actually see the action instead of just implying it all in the visual novel segments.

I feel like this is both consistent and not. In Hisame's event she clearly knew Hisame's backstory, but in Aina's event she didn't seem to be aware that Aina's mom worked at that marine biology institute.

30G not being sure if they will be good senpais for the 31st gen was cute. They intentionally tried to act cool in front of the newbies in the Prologue, that's hilariouds.
It was interesting to see just how dire things were before the 31st gen arrived. They were always shorthanded, there are barely any 30 gens left so they just have to use all their missions on defending domes and can barely advance. Taking back a watchtower was considered a major win...

The choice to basically make the Chie event not focus on Chie's thoughts was weird. I guess it was done to preserve some of the mystique? Learning about her past through Yuina and Miya makes her feel more foreign, which fits with the whole feral theme.

Feral children... that is a real phenomenon, where animals sometimes raise abandoned human children, usually toddlers. But it's exceptionally rare and usually turns out to be hoaxes or myths. Still, there are real cases of this, so this is one of the rare cases where the weird thing Maeda cooked up is not entirely fiction.
However, those feral children tend to be severely mentally and physically handicapped. They almost never learn human speech and can't adapt to human society at all. Cognitive skills are low.

I always assumed the joke with Chie was that she is from a redneck prefecture and so she has a rough nature that comes out when she gets mad, which is contrasted by her trying to be so ladylike. The fact that she is actually a feral child who hangs on to cuteness as her way of being human is almost over the top. I wonder if they always planned this? Hisame's backstory clearly was always the one from her event, they set that up with hints here and there (like Inori noting how dangerous/deadly Hisame's sword style is). The only hint to Chie being a wolf child is... that she is good at running and has aggressive outbursts?

That Apophis was a bitch and a half to beat. For one, someone had the bright idea of making it vulnerable to ice, and 31A doesn't have ice styles at this point.
Also, if I recall, using this "Orb of [x]" (Criticality in this case) increased mastery, but I've been using it and mastery isn't going up. Is beating the Orb boss over and over the only way?

The only 31A member that kind of didn't get a chapter yet would be Yukki, right?

Since she is a Maeda favourite, I'd imagine 5.3 is going to be a longer one, involving her as part of the chapter 5 finale.

Also, those purple lights going off from the meteorite underwater and the crystal (egg?) that drops into the ocean in the cutscene after the final boss, are they just dramatic effects or does it imply that more cancers came with the rock other than Kaleido Ouroboros? Maybe Tezuka overlooked that as well, so that mistake is the reason why she is stepping down?

I really don't want to wait until 2026 to play 5.3, but that is likely what's going to happen.
Or maybe not, if WFS can borrow a couple of devs from their Pokelabo team. But they are going to be busy running Magia Exedra this year.

So far the previews always showed the main character of the following chapter, so it would be Tezuka/Nanamin.

My guess is that we will get Tezuka's pov as she investigates/infiltrates the command up north.
And the plot twist will be that it's actually made of the 31A members from the future and it was them who sent the messages to Yuina and the countdown to Tsukasa.

The orb bosses level 1-3 increase only the mastery of their own orbs if the characters who have them equipped aren't at 100% yet. You don't even have to use the skill, but the orb bosses are the only source of mastery for orb skills. At level 4 you only get mastery points that you can give to any character who doesn't have the orb skill yet.

You get it from beating the shadow versions of the girl you want the upgrade for. The floors tell you which shadow girl is on which floor.

It's a bit hard to see, but they hold the view quite a bit as it falls down, so maybe there is more to that?
The whole boss death sequence felt a bit... anticlimactic considering how powerful it was supposed to be.

It could work as a way to connect the chapters. Something like, facing the evolved, water-resistant Kaleido Ouroboros in 5.3.

But I guess that is too far-fetched for Maeda's writing style. So we are probably just going to have a new threat to beat in the next finale as usual.

Well the next chapter is supposed to be the big Kyushu mission, so it will be the mother Cancer.
I still think Kaleidoborous is a Mother Cancer larva or infant that was literally just awakened. And that was already this strong.

I think it's more of a Ruka chapter. Since 31A need to deal with their past in the main story rather than with events most of the main story chapter will feature a 31A member as the focus. 5.2 for example would be the Karerin chapter, you learn a bit more about Tsukasa but her problems still remain. I guess Yukki's chapter would be near the end of the game.

No I am fairly certain that is wrong. Chapter 4 was the MeguTama chapter. 5.1 give you Yukki's backstory and makes her character development the focus towards the end when Ruka gets vored.
5.2 is very much a Karen and Tsukasa chapter. Just because they charactrers arent completely "solved" by the end doesnt mean they werent ths chapter's focus. Holy shit, you get several days of Tsukasa POV like she is the freaking protagonist. She is pivotal to the entire missions, same as Megumi in 4.1. It's pretty hard to deny.

I'm really struggling on where to put this Sugawara event in the guide... I feel like chapter 3's 30G content is probably good to know for the dynamics, but Yuina's first event was also chapter 2 locked and made sense there.
Beyond referencing Yuina's event and some basic KuraMona dynamics, it's actually a fairly unspoilery event. It's surprisingly self-contained.
But recommending this to people who just finished chapter 3 and Kura's event almost feels like unnatural whiplash.

The one thing I know is that the idiots at WFS who made this a chapter 1 lock yet again are stupid.

Knowing wfs, they will later add a character with an ult that unconditionally has like 25 aoe hits out of the box and works against every element to help people clear it. Then people will start abusing it for OD in normal combat, and the devs will come up with some OD absorption gimmick.

HBR's battle system is heavily based on AE's (there's this... cat.. for a reason as well), so it's not strange to slowly but surely see features from that game creep into this one. It happens all the time, the most recent one having been Iroha's buff changing with deployed elemental field. They are still quite different of course, but there are a few too many similarities to say it's a coincidence, also considering it's the very same dev.

More hits would break OD more, and let's just say, Another Eden loves to ban its OD version basically all the time. They won't break it too much. At least for now. I would not be surprised if in a few years from now OD becomes useless outside of an SP boost and being able to set up buffs though, because otherwise the enemy just kills you. We might even see the extremely early start of this, with them releasing more SP regen related styles.
Pic is a funny example of "don't hit me too much, but I have funny barriers so hit me more". Don't "OD" though, because that counts as 1 turn and would be suicide. Or.. you know. Barrier pierce.

Part of me hopes HBR becomes as whack as AE superboss design. Enemies here still don't really do much to stop you doing whatever you want.

It's mostly fluff, you can read it yourself, but there was one part that kind of pissed me off.

Apparently they still do the thing where they write events based on the styles they want to release on schedule. So they wanted to release Yuina for this anni, and that's why we got a "Yuina" event. It could have been a Nanami event instead if there hadn't been a conquest release at that time, because they planned to release Nanami for the anni as well.
I guess this explains why it was so weird, Maeda just didn't know wtf to write about Yuina again without touching on the arc he wants her to have in the main story.

No, it was already clear that the three parts of chapter 5 all focus on one of the three major side-squads. 5.1 has 31B, 5.2 is technically 31C, but Maeda got fucking lazy and put Wakki into this unnecessary survival camp.
5.3 should be about 30G and pay off quite a few major things, like the mother Cancer, Yuina's death flags etc.

Is there a way to tweak the sugoi translator OCR to automatically pick up the next text for hbr? I'm using the 'Visual Novel OCR' option + 'Sugoi Translator Offline'.

While I can adjust the Invert Binarize to make the text popout from the background, when the characters' next line comes out, the OCR doesn't automatically pick up on it and I need to click the light blue Translate again.

The green 'Auto On' option is on, and it works when the box area changes wildly (e.g. alt-tabbing between programs). But when hbr's story is playing at normal speed the auto option doesn't trigger unless I pause the video.
(Yes, I'm watching a youtube video for it. I tried and quit playing the game so I don't know how to use the Textractor on chrome).

I also don't understand the difference between Instant OCR and Simple OCR, they both seem to pick up text and translate at the same speed, with no adjustments.

By getting duplicates of the style or using memoria shards. You can get the gold ones from several places, but the easiest would be grinding them in event shops. It takes 10 to upgade an SS style though.
There is also that upgrade station that you have to get to 100% with the weekly missions. It takes a long time, but it works like a Limit Break.
Of course you can be lucky and get dupes from the gacha, but that will take a while too.

Noteworthy is that levels and some stats apply to all styles of a character, so you should also max out a character's A and S styles.

I think that feature was added around the 2nde and 2.5th anni. I honestly don't remember. Either way I'm saving up for it. You will max out A and S styles really quickly anyway, so wasting shards on them feels pointless.

Considering how many material boost campaigns EN already did and how we drowned in life gems for a while which I used to farm materials, it is not that hard to get so many accesories.
Also you should definitely go through the accesory dungeons and the Tear dungeon. They have some nice gear too.

Mind you, this is a story accurate team, so it is a struggle to win with this. Not having Megumin sucks the most, because her debuffs made life easy. You are clearly using your strongest team with whatever styles, so you should be able to manage with a lot less.

Don't forget to do reversions on your main team to add an extra skill slot and raise all stats too. I try to have all my styles at +1 at least. Get the soul item from their Recollections as well.

NTA, but it's not even that good, compared to the really broken styles. This was always what it should've been though. Binding perma debuffs to temp ones was dumb. Which is why Tsukasa was the only really good weakness creator.
I don't think Ichiko is on the level of Tsukasa, but handily second place. Her ex is quite expensive, holding her down a bit, though LB 3 can fix this. But she definitely fits well into the sisters version of light. Which.. is unexpected for them to do.

Ruka, Isuzu, Yotsuha, Aoi, Ichiko, dps (ideally Kanade). That said, if you need a Blaster, things get a bit more ugly. I expected them to copy Tsukasa for light (it'd work well with the newer styles like Yuina, because you could ditch Yotsuha) but alas. You really need light enhance, so Yuina's spot is iffy.
Aoi is a full on comfort character, but otherwise you go with 0 sustain past Ruka, and considering neither Yotsuha nor Isuzu really attack.. you need something in that slot to help.

Regardless, a good style, but nothing you absolutely need. Doubly so on a solo banner.

All the 3rd anni styles are winners, but this one still stands out as one of the top designs next to Misarin. I am just slightly sad that they didn't dare give Ichii pants. They just had to still give her a skirt. I guess that's just her image.

If you run Monaka, she supplies her own light enhance. So you run something like:
Monaka, Yuina, Ichiko, Isuzu, Ruka, flex spot (Aoi, light Yuki, etc).
That gives you full buffs for Monaka, a good blaster (with tons of utility), and still have a flex spot that allows you to run your comfort Aoi.

Ichiko has a home screen line where she imitates all of her sisters... the VA actually pulled off almost everyone perfectly. It's kind of vocal chameleon level! The one that tipped me off was Isuzu. That's weirdly enough the only one she couldn't capture perfectly.

Nah, Ichiko3 is easily the best Overwrite. Her EX is expensive, but considering how her kit flows, LB1 allows her a Turn 2 EX very easily.
Tsukasa4 is easily the worst Overwrite at this point. Functionally at this point, she's putting out only Dark Overwrite, whereas every other Overwrite at least has a Defense Debuff, or Fragile, in Sharo2's case. Tsukasa is the cheapest Overwrite, but without a combination of 2 of the following: LB1, LB1 Aoi4, or Turn 1 SP Orb, she's still taking until Turn 3 to get to use her EX. That and her common skill, in a Post Seika3 world, is kinda redundant. I feel like the only Overwrite even potentially better than Ichiko3 is Sharo2, but moreso because Sharo2 is easily the easiest Overwrite to use, and Fragile on top is a really solid boon.

Vampire Sharo has always been the best weaknes creation style to be honest. It just does what it needs to well. The others tried to distinguish themselves from her style and thus created a bunch of more conditional set ups.
But yeah Ichiko3 is very good in my opinion as well.
The worst one is definitely Hisame though, not Slutkasa.

They fixed a feature that literally nobody except me cares about. Now when there is dialogue in dungeons it doesnt cut off by transitioning between areas and they will actually properly finish it. This has been annoying me to no end before.

It just makes auto walking through dungeons a pain because the dialogue always happens before a transition. So you have to walk manually and carefully to avoid that.
WFS fixes things very late and at random, but they usuall get there.

It's about Hisame's birthday. CiroMaki are encouraging Inori to go on a date with Hisame, whos says she had something planned for her "master's" birthday. But when she asks if she is free tomorrow Hisame says 30G already planned a party, so she is busy. Inori immediately gives up and retreats.

During the night Hisame realizes that Inori probably wanted to celebrate her birthday and can barely sleep. When it turns midnight she is woken up doing that weird sleeping pose... Anyway, Inori hands her a present and thanks her for all she's done for her and then leaves.

Just to be clear, in Japan the first thing one sees during their birthday or during New Years is very important. Inori coming at the break of midnight and her smiling are pretty meaningful. She is more important than even 30G who she will have the party with later.

I played the new Ichiko memory episode.
Ichiko and Shiki are an interestint combination. I really love how they portrayed Shiki as secretly scheming again, like when she took Megumi's virginity. All of this was an elaborate plot to get Ichiko into her room. And it would have totally succeeded too... if Ichiko wasn't batshit insane. Her love for her sister harem is intense enough to burn like the sun itself.

Shiki learned that day to never stick her conductor fingers in crazy.

Depends on the content. Maybe a little for weak enemies, but for bosses where you want to build DR it wouldn't change anything.
Breakers are just fundamentally unnecessary. DP values are small compared to HP, so attackers are naturally more relevant (not to mention score attack).
Some things that would make breakers better would be extending the down turn if a breaker breaks (currently Yuki only), making DP much higher and giving breakers bigger +DP bonuses, or giving breakers unique buffs/debuffs that occur after breaking.

I'd just make breakers able to "break" damage limit stuff and get rid of stuff like multiple DP bars without getting stopped. Basically they'd ignore any "gimmick" that tries to stop you from breaking the enemy.
So stuff like the current event grind stage, a breaker could just immediately delete all the damage cap layers provided they deal more damage than 30k times 3, and possibly even oneshot the enemy.

As long as they only deal a bit more damage, they are fairly pointless, and it's not like you can't get around these mechanics otherwise either. It'd give them a niche though, and would be fitting for a class named "breaker".

The white suit styles are the best aesthetic theme WFS has made in a long time. They actually feel inspired, unlike the cheap fanservice or the basic as heck Christmas/yukata styles that sort of form a theme.

Did anyone but me even play Chie's event? There was no reaction at all, even for the Miya NTR and breast sucking thing, which blew up on Xitter and 5ch.

Breast feeding scene = a joke that doesn't actually get to the breast feeding, which is subverted with a gag about Kura's food looking like tits and all about Miya PREVENTING being NTR'd by going into maximum brain mode. Leading to follow up gags where Miya demands to suck Yuina's tits and wants milk.

You see how one is not fanservice, never shows anything sexual and is used for character humor instead of just being cheap bait for horny dudes? If you cant accept anything sexually humorous happening BETWEEN the girls, then what are you doing on /u/?

There are real examples of waifu pandering and fanservice in this game, which is why making up things to be upset about just weirds me out. Like you got Aoi's second memory episode right there, a great example of a superficial "yuri" moment (Ruka playing Aoi's boyfriend), which is clearly only there for dudes to self-insert into the situation. This is something you could rightfully be upset about, because it is very much written anti-yuri with Ruka saying a bishoujo like Aoi needs to drive boys crazy or whatever so she will roleplay the BF, which is totally OOC.
This breast feeding gag on the other hand has nothing self-inserty in it, never acknowledge males and generally is all character based. Hell. it even has several layers, like Monanyan putting Kura's food into her pocket for later, which is hilariously insane.

At least TRY to consider that you are looking at it the wrong way.

I had mixed feelings over the event. Going through it and getting to the end, it felt like it was hitting the right notes to make me sympathetic and a bit emotional at the ending where Chie frees the researcher. But, the content is still weird. Feral children have been studied and they don't reform. They generally cannot learn language, much less learn cute mannerisms like Chie. I know not everything needs to be realistic but it seems like such a weird choice for a backstory. So I have a bit of backlash between what I felt and what I thought about it.
I liked the jokes. We also got some Hisame bullying. I'm sure some day you'll have your moment, Hisamecchi.

Yeah the feral children thing was definitely pushed beyond real life examples, but I find this is one of the easier things to suspend my disbelief on when it comes to HBR.
In fact the way they portrayed it is kinda odd. Like Suganyan forgot most of her feral past. She "relapses" after all and doesn't even remember what she did during that. It feels like there is an extra layer here we aren't privvy to.

The one thing I really liked about the event is Chie's VA being able to show her vocal range. She used to be an adult content voice actress, but they're leaning into her aggressive and loud vocals instead which is really fun. When she yells in feral mode it's actually cool.

Not only are cases of feral children incredibly rare as is, but all documented cases have had very bad results on educating and reintegrating said children. Their ability to learn language is nearly non-existent. The few cases where they grew up to be adults only had them capable of sign language. One of the more successful cases was a guy who was quiet and just social enough to learn to smoke and dress himself.

I'm the Anon that posted the original comment. Honestly I didn't really think about other media depictions, but that's a fair comment. Still, in the ones I'm familiar with they are still very much a jungle/forest/wild person and they usually revolve around how much they don't fit into social norms even if they do learn language. It wouldn't be hard to guess that they grew up different, whereas without this story you would have NEVER guessed Chie was a feral child.
Either way, its not a huge issue but it just left me feeling like her past and present selves were just complete worlds apart.
