>>3807105Miko herself brought the romantic aspect to it, albeit it has more to do with their relationship as close friends being something that was a thing before Hololive. Miko was obviously in love/interested in her going as far as to ask Pekora if she would kiss a girl, and just getting jealous over stuff she did with other girls and such. They spent Christmas together back then too, and Miko was obviously into her even after she joined Hololive, but Pekora just took it as a joke/played it off and I guess she just eventually got too uncomfortable with the shipping to keep collabing together.
They did have a bunch of cute moments together, and even now I believe Miko was the closest Pekora ever had to a best friend in/outside of Hololive that we know of, they could talk about anything and she felt comfortable enough to let Miko touch her (in a friendly way) which she doesn’t allow many other girls to do.
Their last sleepover for Christmas was legendary because Pekora just never stays over at someone else’s house, and that just riled up the shippers more. That and Marine teasing Pekora due to the way Miko called her Peko-chan instead of Usada after they slept in the same bed probably was part of what made Pekora too uncomfortable with the ship.
I’m sure Miko tried to learn from that, which is why she refers to MiComet as a duo instead, but she still mentions Suisei in pretty much all of her streams in some way or another, sometimes multiple times, and I feel she’s in for a heartbreak again unless Suisei is into her as well, which I seriously doubt. She gives too much fuel to shippers even if they’re trying to play it off as a “business partners” thing, it’s just not working.
