And again, effort wasted on something nobody asked for instead on something that was primarily advertised. It's like paying for shit that is completely opposite of what you wanted in the first place.

Hetfags have hundred times more games than /u/ and them infesting what little yuri there is out there is fucking disgusting. They didn't even buy it for those couple of pathetic scenes either so good fucking job "widening" your target audience. It only managed to piss off the main consumer demographic.

Dude what? There are countless of VNs where the random dude fucks their waifu, it's called self insertion. They however can't self insert into a guy if the girl is a full lesbian that's why you can't promote this as a yuri game. Gotta stay ambiguous for them.

Souma was a healthy rival who never descended into the rape tier status that many men in older "yuri" series belonged to and that's just as nice to have as a supportive wingman like Mop head.

I've never understood the "self-insert" thing. All the VNs I've played and heard of have had MCs with pretty defined personalities. Just look at one of the most popular ones, F/SN. One of the driving forces in the plot is development revolving around Shirou's ideals and how he's kind of fucked in the head. How's that a self-insert?

Katahane's het was shoehorned in because they were worried, but the yuri was the main attraction, and was well-respected in the material. In fact, with a save file, you could absolutely skip every het scene except a short one that was completely and totally unrelated to the main yuri couple, who got the most scenes and the most plot relevance.

Subtext is just degrading to yuri. It's like, "I don't respect this or my characters (god I sound like ac-kun) enough to 'sacrifice' something and allow this story to reach its natural conclusion."

Play more VNs. There's a very evident number of VNs that have faceless MCs or blank slates. Even Kara no Shoujo, which has actual plot and isn't all porn, has the MC's face somewhat obscured most of the time. Especially when a girl leans on or hugs him. For what purpose other than to let the player put himself in his shoes?

It's simple, the het in Katahane wasn't obtrusive to the yuri.
The romances in Katahane, both the het and the yuri were well developed and well written (enough to make up for the unnecessary porn shit).
Cero was a likeable character and there's nothing wrong with an occasional male character so long he doesn't pose any threat to the yuri couples.

I think like this, if there are only girls in the universe, what choice do they have but to be lesbians? At least when males exist, their love for another girl feel more genuine.

It's different from, say, Hibike! Euphonium where all males are a constant threat to the yuri, same for all the harem-trash anime every season.
Katahane is a beautiful VN, fanservice-free, you can skip all porn and not lose anything on the story because the story can stand on its own. All the characters are interesting and play a role to the development of the story, the politics are simplistic but interesting. It's easy to feel invested into the story and even Coco who is annoying at first, eventually grows to be a charismatic character as the VN progresses.

Sorry, but I never really liked the line of thinking that having males is necessary for the genuinity of a lesbian relationship. It's as if all women are attracted to men by default and they have to prove themselves to be lesbians by rejecting the males around them. Taken to the absolute extreme, it's like how in western tv, 'lesbians' have to do a 'test drive' with men first, but fortunately, stuff like that rarely happens in yuri.

No, they are not necessary. But take an all-girls universe like Simoun for example, the girls are into each other, but do they have a choice? Technically they do, but that's after they grow up and can change their gender but given lots of them become males is even another issue. I think Blue Drop is the same, but it's been long since I watched, I don't remember if they really come from an all-girls-universe.
Katahane happens on a more traditional human world, and in the human world male humans do exist, if every male needs to be purged from the screen or else 'oh no, that female character will risk becoming het because she saw another male' then you are really being paranoid or something else.
This is no worse than the christian mother who thinks her children will become gay if they see a gay character on television.

As far it goes, all the interaction has been between girls(and all the named characters are women). Most of the fanservice is solo shots and most of the yuriservice is dreams outside of some brief bursts of dialogue and one scene where the heroine licks melted chocolate off her sensei at a chocolate bath.

That said, the main heroine has a special ability that's essentially a very precise form of astral projection, and it has some odd manifestations when she's dreaming/sleeping. The empress character is very aware of whenever she's the subject of the MC's psychic spying, states they're sharing their dream, and then hooks up with her. So it's not like "yuri that never happened." Just mindfucking at the literal level. And the dialogue from the other girls imply the same thing, that they experience the erotic dreams the heroine has about them.

But beyond that it's mostly solo shots of girls in various states of undress.

Your usual fantasy story about a fantasy kingdom being threatened by an unfathomable evil that taints and blights the world, preventing new life from sprouting and heralding the arrival of monsters, and the empress charges three scantily clad warriors; the unseasoned MC with her psychic projection abilities, her tank instructor and the bookish lightning-shooting noble scribe; to go retrieve the plot macguffin out of shithole land for reasons she is deliberately being vague about.

The physical game was released 7 years ago. The digital version was released much later.
You can get the PS2 version on sites like suruga-ya for about $5. However you need a proxy mailing service since they only ship to Japan.

The physical PC version runs for $60. I think because of the very limited print.
Many good 18+ VN on PC are still fairly cheap, but some are going up in price. I got Katahane several years ago for like $15, now it runs
for about $50.

We see some in the trailer/screenshots and they look more grunt like and generic. It's logical to assume that the Lord would be distinctive and seeing how Arnas looks similar I'm guessing she's tied as in successor of his or something along those lines?

Again I'm thinking that the sacrifice is going to be more personal. Nothing alike her bringing the saint to some separate entity that never appeared beforehand and that being the end of it. That picture depicting both of them dying while the Lord is embracing the saint (see hands) is a foreshadowing of the bad end where she dies to stop Arnas.

Anyway, SUCCESS basically just gave a tiny tiny flicker of hope that the Aka/Ao series might not be totally dead. I'm so giddy over this since I finally decided to accept that it was dead when the 10th anniversary went by quietly. They keep coming back from the dead, albeit just barely, just as I write them off. The last time this happened was when they put the PS2 archive up on the PSN.

I doubt the entire team is still at the company but at the very least, the writer is still there.

Your only argument is "you hate men" just because I don't want to see the main character suddenly gain masculine features over her already normal form for no reason. That doesn't mean I am biased. It's just means that I see it as unnecessary and it's safe to say that others would agree.

Just look at the picture. It's not just the breasts, even in my first post I described how the torso is bigger as well as the shoulders being much more broader and manly. And the chest is not only flat, it's muscled, those are pecks anon.

That's not a "full" demon form that Arnas will "acquire" that's just a demonic dude just like Arnas is a demonic girl. A separate character depiction.

It's almost as if you can't handle her tits and hourglass figure and just want to see them gone for some reason.

No way in hell they're true. Maybe the main character will be voiced (which sucks) but the game will 100% feature both genders. Every Fallout did.

Besides, Bethesda knows the amount of waifufags out there. 80% of all armors and skin texture mods are made for females.

I never play Tales of expecting romance. What I do think it's nice it's that usually they run away from the mc that everyone loves because he's the mc trope (except for Symphonia and the stupid affection system, that they never brought back, as far as I know).
But people says that everything in Zestiria is Sorey X Mikleo.

Tales of always relied on the last Final Fantasy game being made. Like Symphonia got a lot from FFX, or Xillia introduced a strong female character soon after FFXIII. So I was kinda afraid that their next game would be all male party.

Last I checked the Nicole yuri thread they'd pushed the release back again to around Halloween. Maybe we'll get to see it this century. Winterwolves also has their first full yuri game Summer In Trigue in development.

Then there's Starlight Vega and Rising Angels (which does have a token GxB option, but at least five GxG routes)

Sacrament Sheep also getting translated by Sekai Project.

A good year for yuri.
