op here, i would recommend starting with the tae kim grammar guide and parallel with it enhance your vocabulary. Since you want to learn properly reading and writing i would say download some japanese novels written in the language, i dont know which to recommend really bcz i havent started my journey yet but i believe starting with the literature is the best way.

If youre interested in sounding as natural/native as possible, look into dogen's pitch accent stuff before you start learning too much vocab/kanji. The majority of his lessons are behind a paywall, but he has a few of the first ones up on youtube for you to check out. Pitch accent's English equivalent is sort of like syllabic emphasis and syllable length and is intuitive to native speakers (Jap and Eng) but is rarely taught to Japanese Second Lang Speakers.

this folder includes^
Genki 1: from nothing to N5 level
Genki 2: from N5 to N4
Tobira: N4 to N3+ (though I recommend buying a print of this because it introduces too much kanji and it's good to take notes.)

After these you can read most non adult manga pretty easily, and you can have normal conversations with people. Note that you can only improve at speaking by speaking. This is the only thing you will need JP related from 0 to the point where you can learn by emmersion

I've been learning Kanji with Anki for a year now, still going strong. You just need to prepare some good music (some albums you've been meaning to listen to) and go at it for 1.5 to 2 hours a day. I recommend writing down everything you learn physically as well. It really helps. Lower to limit from 200 to 100 reviews a day and your experience gets a lot better. And you can't only be learning kanji. You need to supplement it by reading manga (Yotsuba&! for example is very easy to read and very good). Don't give up man. You can do this.

The reason I want to Learn Japanese is to read Miyamoto Musashi's Book of 5 Rings (in the original language). As well as Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings Japanese translation. That's the goal I've set for myself to keep going. Not sure if this is the right place to ask but does anyone have a good quality Japanese 五輪書 Go Rin no Sho file in PDF or EPUB. Also an audiobook (in Japanese) of BO5R would be awesome as well.

Yes, tatsumoto is a newer version of the /jp/ guide. There are some haters though. don't mind them, they don't know Japanese. I got fluent in Japanese solely thanks to Tatsumoto's advice and the software their team has made.
