Then the company sends out warnings to the ISPs and you then get the letter.

In all my years I've never had to install codecs with VLC when it came to performance.
They play, but they're choppy and my CPU usage is basically maxed out.
If I play them at 50% speed I see like 60% CPU and they play with no skipped frames.
For what it's worth, I can watch her 4K30, but not the 4K60.

Under Simple Preferences -> Input / Codecs the Hardware-accelerated edcoding was set to Automatic but now I've got it set manually to DirectX Video Acceleration (DXVA) 2.0 and 4K60 plays back fine.
Guess I've been software decoding my stuff for years without problems, but I usually stuck to 1080p or 4k movies so 4K60 content finally broke my bad default settings.
Thankfully I don't need to upgrade.
