So yes, most autistics are dysfunctional and it only benefits people at the very upper end. And nearly all of those that I know had a research background, where a super intense focus is an advantage. After all, how many would dedicate 20 years of their lives to researching one compound for medical use before it reached the shelves and then do 5 - 15 more years in following up people in a longitudinal study? And all this for a pathetic pay and limited job security?
>>22151658Asperger's syndrome was known to science before WWII but not used in diagnosis until the 1970s around here. I know one guy who went for his diagnosis when he was 60+, not to feel special but ratehr to get closure on a solitary life lived awkwardly.
