>>21060196There's a difference between cosplaying just for the "cool" look and indeed actually being part of the scene by buying the records, going to gigs etc. Do you really think any of those TikTok chicks even listens to Gothic/Dark Wave or even Black Metal? That's why the music they're using for their vids mostly is anything but goth. Also I'm not talking about the 2000 scene, more like the 80's and 90's.
Also of course you can't deny that even at the german Wave Gothic Treffen there are a lot of people there just to present a certain look without actually being part of the scene. Especially this event has become some kind of tradition now that even the media acknowledges every year, so you even see elderly people and of course also some much too young to really know what this is (or was) all about. And of course the Goth scene always had a huge percentage of people (but of course not all) that were there just for the look and not so much for the music.
