We evolved without hair because being clean and cool was more important than being warm to a species that can make clothing and can overheat.
To me a big bush looks unclean, on a male or female. But it's also, as others have said, a preference. But let's not pretend like nature (much less some deity) really got it right. Some people (and peoples) don't have much or any pubic hair.
