from everything I've watched about wild animals in my area, it seems basically impossible to tame most animals. best case scenario is they learn to tolerate you and stop being scared, but they don't care about you.
squirrels are so scared of people, only way is to raise a baby and they think your the parent and they actually do like you then and climb on you and enjoy pets.
but possums are surprisingly easy to tame after a few days from what I've read. and once they trust you, they absolutely love being touched and can be clingy. surprisingly smart for creatures that live 2-4 years, scoring better on memory tasks compared to dogs, cats, pigs. the fact that they have lived in this country 65 million years, long before any people probably
