Fundamentally, getting aroused by the mere idea of being female (not just getting aroused by how hot you look or by how you're turning on your bf) is a male fetish because it entails seeing the female sex as an exotic alien thing, whereas women themselves have been female their entire lives and know nothing less alien or more familiar than being female.
Most of this idea that women are AGP comes from transsexuals seeking to make themselves feel more like normal women by trying to redefine women as being just like transsexuals, in conjunction with a lot of conflation of getting off to being attractive with getting off to the idea of being female.
Very often you'll see anons here or people elsewhere on the internet post about some woman or transsexual appreciating her own looks and calling it AGP, and that's a misunderstanding. AGP isn't narcissism. It's arousal at the idea of being female. The "gyne" part (female) of autogynephilia is important. It isn't just being turned on by your own body.
