All this is in stark contrast to AGPs who have a different motivation for transitioning which is only indirectly sexual (see below), are female-attracted, and not naturally effeminate which makes their presentation *more* incongruous post-transition (ogrehons etc.).
Crucially, Blanchard's typology stipulates that HSTSes do not experience gender dysphoria; this is maybe the least understood facet of the typology, but Blanchard's thinking is that the dysphoria arises from the AGP's self-image issues, which are rooted in his sexual fetish – he is attracted to the image of himself as a woman, but this image is starkly at odds with reality, which causes psychological suffering and attempts to "correct" the real world. This is the proximate reason for AGPs attempting to transition and lacks any equivalent in the HSTS who is an *opportunistic* transitioner, that is his transition produces palpable advantages rather than being driven by suffering as in the case of the AGP.
Blanchard was notably the driving force in enabling AGPs to transition at all, which early protocols did not permit them to do; these protocols were entirely focused on winnowing out HSTSes and only giving them treatment, which is why the earliest postwar transitioners were so frequently passoids despite the comparatively primitive treatments available at that time. Blanchard felt that the alleviation of suffering was primary and that AGPs should thus be allowed treatment, even though this produces autistic groos, speedrun hons, It's Ma'ams and so on.
