IMO if you have a decent enough understanding of each other and then meet on home terf you're way more safe, we chatted for like 8 hours a day for about 2 months before he came to meet me, and we didn't meet at my house when we did, we went on a full day date to check the vibes irl, all went well, and all has gone well
prolly very lucky but that's my experience

HOLY SHIT I did this too... I used to think it would all be alright so long as I loved their personality... But even if that were the case, the person still needs to be attractive to me... Interesting, I've never met someone who spoke about this before.

Met a BPD girl from /soc/ in 2012.

Got the train to her town to meet her, had a nice day, stayed at her house (separate rooms). We took the bus together so I could get the train back, she cuddled up to me. Then she messaged me saying she missed her ex bf and we can be just friends.

I visited her again several weeks later, she had a melty over her ex bf and said she didn't want me to stay over. It was too late to get the train home, but luckily I had friends in a neighbouring town I could stay with. When I was with those friends, the girl rang me crying saying she was going to kill herself. I was on the phone with her for like 30 minutes while I was in a bar. Then she hung up after saying she was going to hurt herself. She didn't pick up despite my calls for a couple of hours, and then messaged me to say "sorry I didn't answer I was talking to my ex bf :^)".
