Sadly he came to really only get validation in the form of his looks. I can relate to that during my younger years as well. The higher up in my education I got the more it mattered to be because the less exceptional I was. By the time I got to grad school I had no idea really where I fell among people. It reminds me that everyone needs and deserves to receive validation.
