>>33373440sous chef is like the equivalent of an assistant manager. they are your boss, just not the big boss, called a head chef. This was a French restaurant so they had what's called a Chef de Cuisine. Chef de Cuisine is like the head chef's personal assistant. They are below head chef but in a higher level of management than sous chef, doing head chef tasks like ordering food/supplies, working on the kitchen's budget, etc. that the head chef hands to him because if all that work fell on the head chef only he'd never get it done.
Joe probably lives in a smaller town or works in a less busy restaurant. I worked in a hotel kitchen that had 1 chef and 3 cooks because most people who stayed at the hotel went out for food most nights. We'd usually have about 4-5 tables at a time instead of dozens. Le Diplomate had on average 600-800 reserved guests on average every night, excluding walk ins. Could get up to 1000
Speaking of which, the real Joe Biden loved that restaurant and would close 14th street off to eat there. Very intimidating having secret service agents breathing down your neck at all times and forbidding you to go outside to make sure you don't poison the president. They didn't do that for Nancy Pelosi though. Probably do now after the incident with her husband
Here's a pot pie I cooked for Nancy Pelosi btw
