I'm an Ivy League student and can deal with the expenses but I need to conceal my identity for obvious reasons, so it's a little hard to do. We've also just known each other for 3 days but we're doing very well so hopefully I can make her transition fully and then go public.
By the way, she's 20. Will she remain a hon? I'm willing to support surgeries for her, but it's a big investment and I want it to be worth it. I also only like girls so it would basically be a waste of money helping her out if she remains masculine.

You gotta look at her face and body for what it could be. Its hard to do and you often don't truly know how much HRT will do for her until she's been on it for quite some time. But you can look at stuff like her frame and facial structure to try to figure out if there's any hope. And make sure she works out her butt, hips and thighs and don't let her be too skinny either. Having some fat might benefit HRT and body feminization.

Obviously aside from her body you should figure out if you like her personality. It won't work in the long run if you don't get along.

Do you think this might kill my AGP? I used to write quite a bit, and my output really tapered off after starting SSRIs and I think my work became a lot more drab for a while. Actually I tried quitting SSRIs for a week to pump out a creative project and I got really bad withdrawal symptoms and got really really sad, I got creativity back but I was suffering otherwise. These days after maybe a year on them I am almost back to where I was before starting them, but the suicidal ideation has died down from where it once was. I think there is a big price to pay for taking SSRIs, for me it was worth it I think because otherwise I would have killed myself. But I want to try and get off them soon. I am on Escitalopram/Lexapro 20mg btw.

No wonder lucid dreaming and fantasizing and private CD, is enough for me to indulge my AGP, as opposed to modifying the body and brain in physical reality in permanent ways with hormones and surgeries and being "visible" about it, no wonder even the very thought of doing that triggered my OCD cause it was so ego-dystonic to the very core of my being.

Everything makes sense now, I can't believe it took me this long to piece it together.

Nope and I don't care to be either because it would change nothing, a lot of the traits apply to me, almost 90% of them. It may not be SPD but I can relate to a lot of what I'm reading about it, in fact I knew about it before and realized it applied to me too but I didn't read or make the connection back then with this particular passage I posted and my AGP.

I'm good at self-diagnosis though, I self-diagnosed my own OCD (Pure O type) that a previous psychologist totally missed.

Yeah I think a key difference is being alone by choice vs. being alone by external factors like that, like being "socially bullied" into it and "withdrawing".

I have no trouble going outside and socializing as male, but I don't go out of my way to socialize at all.

Yeah, I know, and it's kinda terrifying. I had my therapy session shortly after pastebinning that letter. First thing my therapist asks me:

Smug. The answer is "smug," because she got out and now she knows I have to pick up the pieces and figure out what to do with them rather than continue denying her existence. At this point I'm fairly certain my therapist thinks I'm trans and is trying to ease me into being willing to accept that myself.

He's outright suggesting I start thinking about how I'd *like* to present and encouraging me to explore dressing fem and trying makeup, and adamantly telling me not to just let myself stuff S back in the box, because he thinks it's clear she's a very real part of me and not just some character in my head I'm offloading all my problems onto like I've treated her as, and trying to put that back is gonna lead to a fight I probably won't win in the long run. He didn't even really interpret what "she" wrote so much as hold it up and go "hey, *you* wrote this, this is *you,* this is who you'd be if you didn't care so much about what it might do to your relationships. This is you unchained."

I really don't know how to feel about it all. It's a little more stressful to think about than it was when those lesbians basically told me the same thing, because this is a professional saying it this time.

Well the shitty part is that I'll be looking at a couple months of waiting just to get my first appointment because apparently the gender clinic has been flooded over the past few years and youngshits get priority. Worst case I'll have to wait 6+ months. Assuming I decide to transition it could be easily over a year before I can get HRT through the official means. I'm not sure if I can wait that long. I'm feeling my age breathing down my neck.

I wish I knew someone IRL who I could talk to about this but I don't think I know anyone who'd be understanding or who I'd trust to keep their mouth shut about it.

Yeah. He's a very good therapist, and I'm paying for his time out of pocket, so I'm glad he's going above and beyond for me. He's even been reading Men Trapped in Men's Bodies after I sent him a copy; he's apparently been printing out pages where he thinks Blanchard or Lawrence's assessments don't make sense and writing in the margins what his counterarguments are.

He's very much right to make me look closely at what at least part of me wants. I feel like I'm being pulled increasingly in two directions by my own psyche - the "S" side of me wants him to help convince me I'm trans, and my more pragmatic male side looks at the worst-case scenarios of transition and is going "absolutely fucking not, put this shit away before you throw away what little of life you actually enjoy."

Problem is, "putting this shit away" is what I've done for over two decades. I'm in my early 30s. I'm out of time, and denying all of this isn't working. Maybe there's a solution that doesn't involve me getting on HRT and throwing away the life I worked so hard to get, but whatever it is, I need to find it and soon.

Somewhat. It's both what I feared and was hoping for at the same time. Yes. AGP was a new concept for him to explore, but he's basically in residency at the practice I went to and is specialized with gender and sexuality issues. I thought it was a little odd that he wasn't familiar with AGP, but I was also open to working with him for that reason - it meant there was a largely blank slate there so I wouldn't get a hard "yes you're trans"/"no you're not trans" based on that alone.

I think I've already made a lot of progress. A month ago I had to be borderline blackout drunk to talk about any of this; now I'm writing letters about how fucking horny my fem side is and not blinking twice about sharing it with people, even if it made me feel drunk and disoriented when I finished writing it last night.

Keep wondering at what point the desire to actually *BE* a girl emerged. Younger me at least had role models like Vegeta and Seto Kaiba, that's normal for boys. I never had that flip. For me it was a sexual thing first and foremost for the longest time. It started tilting into "wait, there might be more to this" when I started realizing women could be strong and cool too. More importantly, they could do more with it without being shamed for it.

Well, that was the point of the exercise, I think. If it was just this wholly different person then there might have been some discussion about that and how it's a vent for me to play with a personality that isn't my own. The reality was that me and that "female self" are largely the same person, with the difference being that "she" has the body to match her sexuality and isn't restrained by "a man should be like this, this and this" social expectations like I am.

THAT is why I think my therapist is telling me to seriously explore the idea that I might be trans - why I think he thinks I am, even if he doesn't say it - rather than just telling me to go be a drag queen or keep cosplaying or whatever. Hopefully that distinction makes sense.

For me I desired to BE a girl in my imagination since puberty .. was never a conscious desire or choice, just automatically felt my real sexual self is mostly feminine. But I kept my desire hidden when having relationships with women. And I never tried to reenact my desire or ‘crossdress’ or even fully accept my nature until this year.

Curiously I never had male role models. When younger I was really into some female singers, which I view now as admiration, identifying with their feelings or persona.
I was so inspired by one soprano that I soon moved to a city where luckily she often performed, and I saw her shows like 8 times. Once I paid 300 Euro for the closest possible seats - literally on the stage like six feet from her performing. She even smiled at me and we exchanged some words and that felt so amazing for me .. while my ex-wife sat next to me confused/unhappy about the situation lol. I didn’t consider I was trans then.. no, I just really admired this beautiful singer in a non-sexual way and I desired to experience being in her aura seeing through her eyes on the stage with her.

2020 tripped switches for me.. early this year not only did I figure out I was AGP/trans after years of building to the realization.. also experienced a sudden delightful change to my body. Within months I grew really feminine shaped, losing upper body muscle (no more gym or testosterone cope pills) while my butt/hips popped out a ton (my hips are even wider than DarkWaifuTrap and I like my butt more but his torso is so dainty, like him I’m not on HRT either)
Now I love wearing women’s clothing, makeup, etc etc. with so much privacy at home this year I’m free to be my own fantasy woman every day, really so much fun I love it so much!

As for the desire to be a girl. For me it was sort of opposite. I tried so hard to be a proper man but I just couldn't do it. I didn't understand why it was. I've had these weird feelings and thoughts for as long as I can remember but I didn't know that it didn't match what normal males had inside their heads. The way I'd explain it is that I *WAS* (and still am) always a girl who tried so very hard to live in this male body of mine as my surroundings expected of me. There's no desire to be a girl but there's a desire to get the body that matches my inner self.

I've been transitioned for a good few years now, and I've always been insecure about whether or not I'm AGP. Great! That's the way it should be. You don't have to feel insecure about being (or not being) AGP. It doesn't invalidate your trans side. This is what we should preach in the trans community because so many are still stuck in the old beliefs that seeing it in any way sexual light makes it a fetish and not valid trans.

If you do want to transition, your shoulders aren't great but they might get a little smaller through muscle loss, and barely anyone likes their own face really. Look at some B&A photos - sometimes people change massively. Even if HRT isn't enough, there's always surgery.

Bleh, I don't really care, I have horrible acnea so it could help with that as well. I'm ravaged by it all over my body. I don't know what I even want to be or look like. My feelings about it vary and are never clear at all. Sometimes I dislike being feminine, sometimes it's the opposite. I'm just judging my issues (depression, anger, annoying sex drive, paraphilias that scare me, lack of motivation) and since no antidepressant works I thought trying hrt wouldn't be that bad. Back in the days I really wanted to be female with a passion but my clear resolve has melted and I don't really care anymore.

Also the more I examine myself, the more I feel like a cis male with a sexuality glitch or fetish instead of trans. Even compared to the stories here I feel different. You're only 22. Males are still growing and changing until about 25, so just give it a few years and it will get better. I think you just need to work on self-acceptance. See a therapist, and be honest with them from the outset about what it is you're after. Tell them you find it hard to speak about things but you want help. They'll support you and let you take your time. Even if you struggle the first couple of times, make sure you keep on going until you build up a trusting relationship with them, and can feel comfortable expressing yourself.

I really feel for you, and I hope you get the support you deserve.

oh yeah that was me too, I had pretty bad acne from 12-24 and I tried all sorts of shit, including accutane which only worked for 6 months before coming back. but then I took hrt and it literally just went away cause mine was hormonal acne caused by T...

I got on accutane for over a year too and it did nothing much. It really fucks me up, my face is pretty ruined by it, both becaue of the acne itself and because of the scars. yeah doesn't everybody? the thing, though, is that if you have some condition like depression, which is supposed to be caused by a chemical imbalance, but you still feel better taking an antidepressant, then it really doesn't matter what any "test" would tell you... being trans is the same way, which is why people will tell you to not even focus on the label "trans"

dont be like me, I stepped up gradually over 2 years and then realized that was a really stupid fucking idea. you dont want to test the waters by taking a low dose, all that does is make it take much longer for you to feel the effects, which is the entire point of trying hrt... just take the full dose and if you feel shitty then stop. you're probably a healthy young man so you really don't have to worry about issues like blood clots and dvt

I first cracked at around 2017 and it was still very much the view here from what I remember. I think that was part of why I insisted it was just a fetish and kept repressing. I should've spend more time looking at research and facts instead of reading this board back then.

Not saying that's how it'll always go but you want to be sure about being or not being trans as early as possible. Allow yourself to truly think it through. It will take time. It will make you feel vulnerable and uncomfortable. But in the end you should feel better about who you are and what you want to do with your life.

Define trans, cause the thing about wanting certainty is that for something as poorly and fluidly defined as "being trans" you will never find absolute certainty.

For someone with OCD for example, that can cause intense anxiety, so asking someone to "figure it out" is of little help, you have to ask whose definition of trans will they be comparing themselves to in the first place.

In the end what matters is you not the other people in your life. I don't expect a good reaction from anyone in my life and I'm scared shitless at the thought of telling them but I'm still going through with it. I can no longer live my life trying to live up to whatever others expect from me. I was never fit to fill those boots. It is selfish but it's their problem to figure out how they'll deal with the fact when I do come out.
