>>8536634Texas has introduced a bill (passed in the state senate, currently in the house) essentially banning hentai and most anime because of sexualized minors (high school girls count as minors), and basically all Japanese to English language translation companies are headquartered in Texas. The bill is nominally supposed to be going after AI generated child pornography, but it is vague enough that perfectly legitimate anime would get hit. Some right wing commentators have been saying it only affects realistic depictions of real minors because of federal laws, but Texas isn't the federal government and has their own legal definitions, and it's not clear that it would be limited just to that in a Texas courtroom.
Worst case, the entire English language anime market is about to shit the bed, probably a lot of companies survive but they have to leave Texas, so they're going to have to spend a lot of money and move their employees out or replace them, which means chaos for a while, and in the meantime you get censorship out the ass so these companies aren't facing felony charges for child porn because the high school girls are flashing their tits in the latest ecchi.
