Japan then inherited this and uses it to stop the spread of anything anti-Japanese.
This is how we got all this weird-ass censorship. Basically in theory, anyone could publish full uncensored porn and it's legal/constitutional like here in the US. But, Japan set the president that you can be jailed for porn because it's magically anti-Japanese via the above anti-propaganda laws. The courts just have to say "this harms Japan", of course they don't need to show or say how, and boom - life in jail. So this sets off self-censorship in porn/hentai. This is why the censorship is wildly all over the place - there are no set legal standards - it's just "cover your ass" stickers placed on hentai and mosaics on pussy/insertion. There are even 3rd party places that do censorship to help shift responsibility away from the creator to help keep them out of jail.
This is the legal bullshit behind why
