But let's be real, the most likely reason why it's barebones is because it's just HS + anime graphics, like they put most of their effort into getting a beautiful anime aesthetic and then slapped it onto HS gameplay without any thought.
Rather than strictly following an agenda it's them just being extremely lazy on the gameplay/features department, it's laughable to suggest that they're attempting uphold any notion of realism lol.
If they were going this route, I wish they atleast slapped it onto Koikatsu Sunshine or AI Girl since those games atleast had slightly more areas and features to explore.

I was having the same problem but I found the solution, its just a file is not in the proper place.

Go to abdata, then list and you should see a file named 001_01_ryza.unity3d, now move that file to the characustom folder, it should work now.

Finally got the chance to show my girls so far. I present you A-ko and B-ko. I haven't come up any names for them.

The character creator is a massive step up from KK in a lot of ways, the body model looks nicer too. Some settings are a bit hidden and hard to get to though. I wish there are more hairstyles, pixie cut is my fav.
Hair length tech from HS2 isn't the same here, it's slightly more limited.

It's better optimized, a minor graphical and model improvement. That's it.
il2cpp makes it less desirable for modders to migrate / make mods for this game, and there's still no news about Studio, so people are ignoring this one for now.

Personally I hope this game got big, because the performance boost was very noticeable, and the better models is just all around improvement that helps newbies and veteran creators alike.
But based on how the community treated Room Girl, I'm not that optimistic.

It's nothing like Koikatsu which should be plain obvious if you did a little bit of research. I don't get the comparisons people make between the two. It's pretty much anime version of Honey Select. It's one of the far easier games to get into since you can just download the repack which is a few gbs and then play it.

its covered in a document on character proportions on the koi help mega, but the sliders in the game mess up with multiple bones within the character, leading to either inaccurate proportions getting worse or creating said inaccurate proportions when scaling. Best example is the sliders for the breast, where due to the fact that multiple bones are affected, you can't completely fix inaccuracies within the boobs. if bone mod ever gets made for this game, play around with it and you'll understand why its so important for character creation.

While I get where everyone is coming from, I think people kind of forget how long it took for KK to get really extensive mod support. There was more stuff ported over due to the engine making it possible, but actual like mods didn't come out straight away. HC is in the same boat, but since they ducked about with the engine, it's harder to just drag files onto it, if you follow me

I wish Illusion would just focus on the game instead of making MMD-lite. I like making characters and all but with no studio there's practically nothing to do here. Even koikatsu at least had had a game attached. Just have to wait on this I guess.

You need to set language for non-Unicode program to Japanese, no, locale emulator doesn't work as far as I know.
OR you can just copy the files and paste into the game folder.

I could help but the advice hasn't changed in over forty years. Change to Japanese locale correctly BEFORE you make any other changes. Fully extract files before working with them. Oddities like >>7610227 are usually caused by attempting to work from files that haven't been fully extracted from temporary storage spaces. Like when people arbitrarily drag and drop 30 GBs of files into memory and they disappear as code is being executed on them. Embarrassing stuff really.
