>>7234327It's cool. I don't mind pushback, it keeps me on my toes.
First, it is normal for you to not like black content aimed at the black audience. It is tailored to please them, not you, after all.
In my post above i didn't bother making the difference between the blackness for black content (or blackcentric content as you called it) and blackness for whites content because thought it was irrelevant. First because blackness content for black audience is only the minority of the whole, and i assumed that the guy i was talking too didn't mind the black people having their own shows as long that they keep away from his.
He can correct me if i'm wrong on this, but the point i got from him was that he has a low tolerance for blackness content aimed at white audiences. Since you mentioned forced overrepresentation i guess it is the same for you. On that note, you are technicaly correct when you use overrepresentation to qualify blackness appearence in media outside of america. But it is only one way to see it. You call that forced overrepresention, i simply see popularity. In the battle for cultural entertainment blackness outcompete a lot subcultures because the audience with the most money(white people) like the flavour(after a good dose of diluting of course).
Mmh, maybe that's a good comparison, think of it as spice, almost everybody like some, you don't want any in your plate but you are out of luck because more and more want some in their food.
If i has to guess i would see that trend slow down in 50 or 60 years Younger generation love blackness, their own kids probably won't and blackness is bound to lose a good chunk of his uniqueness and underdog appeal.
You may live long enough to see it, you may also live long enough to regrett it. The thing that will replace blackness isn't guaranted to be something you like.
