First of all there is freeplay mode as with any previous game made by Illusion Soft, as too them porting animations from previous games.
Second Honey Select series is glorified sex animation selector, basically gallery with absolute bare minimum of gameplay it has.
Third is that opening post in here gives concise description of Room Girl and you should have understood it once you yourself have tried it out.

Illusion Soft always recycled some assets for their next games, you should have known that.
PlayClub > Sexy Beach Premium Resort > Honey Select > PlayHome

I fucking said I've been skipping their games, and I asked the questions with question marks because I wasn't sure and wanted an answer. No need to be a nigger about it.

The gameplay is fucking garbage though, and I would have preferred another glorified sex animation selector with more improvements instead of them wasting all their time on a fucking trashpile they dare to call gameplay, which is why I started skipping their shit in the first place.

More to the point, this feels less like koi was to AA2 and more like emorcea was to koi.

AI atleast had free roam gameplay and a house building creator for your waifu's that was fun despite its niche and and issues. HS2 was indeed just a pure sex simulator, but that is what it was always meant to be just like HS1. And personally i very much appreciate the squirt effects added in it (wish it was in studio...). Room girl was just lazily done. What i imagined was for it to combine KK and AI's free roaming world WITH its sim based gameplay with the sex scenes and physics from HS2. Instead its just souless "click on character to do stuff for an hour untill they sexxo you". And you cant tell me they are not capable of doing that. they are using full size maps ffs so free roam is very much possible.

TLDR: i expected it to atleast be on par with KK and AI game world, not worse.

Both Koikatsu and Koikatsu Sunshine only have one male character that is protagonist with exception of Darkness DLC content for first Koikatsu that introduced Janitor that assisted in raping of few select supported personalities.

It is possible for Netori and Netorare to occur in Koikatsu games unlike in Room GIrl that makes it closer to Artificial Academy 2.
Because in Room GIrl there is no restriction of there only being one male character as at least in single location they could be up to 7 of them.
Both male and female NPCs can on their own volition decide without player input to enter into relationship and choose to fuck each other.

While it is not as developed as Artificial Academy 2, it goes well beyond games developed after it and before Room Girl.
Since Illusion Soft bothered to invest man hours in developing such artificial intelligence for NPCs then perhaps we may see Artificial Academy 3.
If not then next game in Koikatsu series that is closer to Artificial Academy 2 than previous Koikatsu games were in feature set.

Ai Shoujo is basically successor to Artificial Girl 3 with free roaming, single protagonist and 4 female NPCs of own choosing plus one trading NPC with preset look and unique personality.
Room GIrl on other hand is closer to Artificial Academy 2 and more so than Koikatsu series is because there can be multiple relationships while Netori and Netorare can occur.
You do not have to handhold NPCs to do their own thing otherwise people would not have complained about being cuckolded in previous general thread nor on F95 forum or Discord.

Koikatsu has several plugins that enhance gameplay and on other hand people continue on their own adding content to Artificial Academy 2.

Keeping up with the latest CPU/GPU/programming tech. They had to at some point for future optimization if they want to forge ahead with better tech. Might as well do it now with a shitty game. This is probably the best point for modders to learn & cultivate the in/outs of the engine, so that they're better prepared for future games like AA3, KK3, or HS3. Remember the time Illusion switched to Unity engine for Harem Mate back in 2014.

Unity Technologies is depreciating and phasing out support for Standard Render Pipeline thus shift to either Universal or High Definition one is inevitable.
Better sooner than later and play catch up with the rest and funny thing is Illusion Soft released game with HDRP before Virt-A-Mate 2.0 is even out.
Similar with Mono being basically on life support and Unity pushing IL2CPP as default now that it is mature compiler that makes Unity engine competitive.
Even in worst case scenario performance benefit from IL2CPP is around 30% improvement just by switching to it from Mono compiler.

Anyway basic screenshot plugin got released today that does not capture user interface of the game when screenshot is taken.

Like I said, for experimenting & training purposes, in preparation when bigger games come out later in the future (AA3, KK3, HS3). Haters could hate all they want, but it shouldn't stop modders from progressing ahead. After all, aren't people always complaining about how resource hog Illusion games are (especially with all the HD mods). At least Illusion is trying to do something. My 2 cents.

If there wasn't collective echo chamber of Room Girl is bad or shit game that berates and beats down on anyone that has fun with it, perhaps plugin makers would have been more willing.
I am not saying that we should not criticize Illusion Soft, but I find amusing that people clamor for gameplay only to flip flop on that conveniently when its more of a game than Honey Select series despite being under cooked.

Anyway what you suggest makes very much sense to me and I completely agree with you on that, but if you were to suggest that then you will get berated and beat down by modders.
They say they don't like the game when really they only care about popularity and approval rather than actual constructive contribution that is long term.
If that wasn't the case then Ai Shoujo would have had full support from them form start rather than only coming due to Honey Select 2 being derived from it that caused meltdown.
Also before that with PlayHome that wasn't as popular as Honey Select and never got any support from plugin makers and modders that made stuff for Honey Select.
PlayHome had basically next to no difference with Honey Select while Ai Shoujo had no compatibility with Honey Select to any degree.
Unlike Room Girl where any hairs, clothes, accessories, heads, bodies, textures and what not made for Ai Shoujo and Honey Select can work in Room Girl as hardmod.

As for changes that Room GIrl has, only plugins related to rendering of graphics, that is shaders need complete rewrite such as Material Editor.
Things such as bonemod, ABMX, extended save, pushup plugin and what not don't need complete rewrite as they are on CPU side.

Illusion Soft simply can't win no matter what they do as yes, one of primary complaints was unsatisfactory performance since forever.
Something had to give and this is result, though whenever those plugins get ported or remade, they will have less impact on performance.

Basically they are an archetype for the character.
Some characters who have a "Likes Serious" will more easily get along with a character that has the Seriously archetype.

They are just a classification for the character and open some different actions for each type.

Room Girl even as vanilla feels like its modded.

Because of graphical features that is has by default that previously for example modders added to previous games through plugins.
Such as imitation/approximation of sub surface scattering since renderer used in previous games do not natively support such feature.
Then something modders can't do in previous games is implement ground truth ambient occlusion that gives shadows more grounded feel.
Then accessories having bones that can be manipulated through forced kinematics such as tails, wings and so on.
Though I am most delighted with is that male character creation finally got some much needed love with hairs, clothes and head type.
Thus male characters can be made look a bit good unlike ugly as sin, especially way back with Honey Select and PlayHome. Yikes.

In HS2, toilet/bath are seperated from the room, and you can only use one at the time. In RG, you still can use one map at the time, but toilet/bath are in the same room(map). So you can move around the room and use positions/locations more freely. But this also need more performance.
HS2 you select position, game will auto change location according to the position. But RG don't have auto select location, you need to know what position are in what location and choose them manually.

They change UI a bit. In RG they add auto hide UI , put the escalation bar near your cursor

Pic8-9 In term of gameplay, pretty much like TS4. You select location from(8-left) the map, then you control the characters in the map(8-right). There aren't many interact option like AIS or TS4 with items/furniture. Gameplay pretty straigth forward. You talk a lot to increase the feeling bar to improve relationship and have more option to do things. It might look kinda boring, but at least it has some role play in the game. If you're into some role play, RG is better.

Pic9(left) Have Extra/free H mode same as HS2 with no preload character(Compare to 6left). Pic9(right)Have some new positions.

RG will get Studio soon, and also likely to get DLC which might add some positions/maps that like pool position which don't available in-game now.

If you compare vanilla game, RG beat HS2. * When studio/maps DLC for RG came out. That's the fact.
But fully moded HS2 still beat RG in term of graphic and customization. So stop arguing.
Unless RG have all plug-ins/mods from HS2 and can perfectly transfer character from HS2 to RG. Those argument will go-on.

Finally got around to playing the 1.1 version. It's kind of amusing with the daily life sims stuff and character interaction but I can see it getting tiresome real quick. Complaining about Room Girl doesn't even come close to shit show that happened.
Honey Select 2 not being compatible at all with Honey Select 1 was total meltdown.
On other hand any mod made for Ai Shoujo and Honey Select 2 can simply be transplanted.
For now as hardmod so just give it own address in registry and that is about it for it.
Whenever sideloader plugin gets ported to Room Girl when they get hang of IL2CPP...
...all those mods involving hairs, clothing, makeup, textures, bumpmaps, etc... Will work.

Aside any customization done through material editor as that is basically fucked, no go.
Since Illusion Soft switched to newer better graphic render core of Unity engine.

There is no "NTR trigger".
The characters don't even acknowledge a relationship or react in anyway.
If you have a character confess to another, they will be considered as "dating", but anyone else can still have sex with them without any kind of consequence or reaction.

You could fuck someone's girlfriend in public, in front of their partner, and nothing happens.
Relationship in this game is no more complex than some internal flag that says "X and Y are dating". That is it.
Artificial Academy 2 has better dating than this.

What you state is absolutely false.

There is no common personality between HS2 and RG unlike there is for AiS and HS2, even then AiS card get converted to HS2 card.
Though for RG the conversion is one way because of whatever changes they made.

Fault does not fall upon the game nor developer of it because it falls upon those complacent with just knowing to work with Mono compiler.
BepInEx community ignored IL2CPP for too long and now they are scrambling to make BepInEx 6 as more and more games are compiled with.
Porting all those features that 5.4 has that is in downgraded to maintainance.
Vast majority of mods can work as hardmods in RoomGirl.

I've been telling you fags that this was gonna be PH 2.0 since months, it was clear as day the moment we played the demo and saw it was reusing HS2 assets, welcome to the no mod support club.
If you still have any doubt about the Illusion modding community not being a self serving viper nest this is your last chance to realize it, this game is going to get an even worse treatment than PH since it runs off ILCPP and nobody wants to deal with that, might as well stick to HS2, RG runs a lot better but it looks arguably worse in some places outside of getting rid of that godawful dithering shader.
And if you care about visuals you'd better stick to PH too, none of the new generation games look better, and they run considerably worse too.

There's a couple of reasons.
First off IL2CPP is the future of Unity, Mono is dead by now (it was already dying since at least three years ago) and it's extremely likely HS2/KKS will be the last games with Mono, the sooner you learn IL2CPP the better, otherwise the Illusion modding scene dies and we all go home.
Secondly, RG runs a lot better than HS2, mostly because the change to IL2CPP is doing most of the heavy lifiting in terms of performance that the Illusion team is too incompetent to do on their own, the better the games run the more people can play them, which means more people will use mods=tl;dr: modders get money.
At least, this is what people with foresight and actual interest in modding would do, which doesn't apply to the vast majority of the illusion modders.

Nobody has to mod the new game if they don't want to, updooter. The vast majority of modders are unpaid and clothing/hair/head mods take over 12 hours to produce. We're getting older and we don't have the free time we used to. We also don't want to have to do the same thing over and over because illusion wants to reinvent the wheel so they can re-release HS2 or whatever a second time. 95% of people who download these games only use studio and illusion can't be bothered to make an actual game with gameplay worth a damn, so that's why unpaid/hobby modders are not excited to mod HS2.5.

This. The "modders" want to milk previous games as much as they can with the minimal possible effort hence the spread of fud. Coordinated discord raids and shitposts containing the same replies from the other generals, nyaa, f95 to control the narrative keeping players away from Room Girl or any new illusion games upon release. Soon the ignorant player base will parrot the same talking points. As always the case in time when it eventually fails and cannot contain everybody locked to an outdated game they will port mods from the older games to newer ones, all it takes is for players/support for their patreon scams to dwindle down with the newer game becoming popular. They don't want that and will fight tooth and nail to keep it from happening but it is inevitable. Some will keep the larp up and do work under a different identity because wow this new modder isn't butthurt like the previous one, yet repeat the same cycle when there's another release by Illusion. Don't you want all these features? play the old one instead because new = bad said the kike modding cabal.

In term of creation, if you're OK with vanilla slider then it's OK. No bonemod and slider unlock mean you can't create unique character like short leg chubby looking Jap girl/ Over 100 Milf/Alien/etc.

In term of Studio, you have more positions(Indluding animation from HS2). But RG don't have plug-ins. Which mean you can't play .vmd(MMD motion). You don't have Timline plugin to create your custom animation. You don't have VNGE to create your visual novel. You don't have graphic mods or DHH mods. So you can't adjust those light/shadow in detail. No highpoly mods mean you only have vanilla body. No better penetration mean you don't have pull-push or real penetration. No custom shader/texture mean you can't create some visual effect like you did in HS2 both in the game and studio >>6950342. No custom contents like custom items yet.

If you mean vanilla game, RG beat HS2. If you heavily depends on plug-ins mods then, you need to wait for RG plugin to came out.

If you have a potatao machine and you don't need mods/plug-ins/uncensor then RG is actually better than HS2.

If you have super potato machine then you might need to step back and play PH or HS instead.

If you have an ultimate potato machine then play "Polygon Love 2 (ポリゴンラブ2)" instead.

I have a 980ti, the game more or less runs at 4k but after enabling SSS I get like 10fps even after changing the resolution to 1080p. Idk what causes it but I doubt it's just SSS being so power hungry.

The long and short of modding or lack thereof:
If tooling catches up to support IL2CPP to the same degree of analysis and runtime modification, you'll get sophisticated mod support. If not, you don't.
The general consensus for KKS was that it was the same as KK, yet it has mod support entirely incidentally as it ran on Mono, not IL2CPP.
RG has a runtime that is not receptive to extremely precise code changes without disproportionately more effort.
It's not that it isn't possible, it's that most modders with the current modding skillset aren't interested in dedicating that time and effort into relearning all this shit just to add something they've written many times before because the payoff is just a AI/HS2 reskin with subsurface scattering.

It's currently possible to swap out the entire codebase and create a total conversion mod for anything running on Mono, there wasn't much interest in this either.
Why wouldn't people be interested in a development environment that offers complete control? You could literally debug in editor and publish new launchers in the same way that Studio sits alongside the main games. Keeping in mind that this is possible for all Mono games, ie: HaremMate or whatever all the way up to HS2/KKS. I reckon the reason is simple, people have better uses for their time, skills and effort than to make these heap of shit games better.
Or rather I want to believe that, then I see how much time goes into Studio and Maker and this theory falls apart.
Feel free to come up with a better idea, I've got nothing.

I noticed that most of the character comparation are from character cards made from hs2. This could just mean that RG doesn't load HS2 cards very well. If that's the case then just make new characters in RG then, half the fun of these games is creating and editing characters.

You're wrong. It's software issue. Try update your VGA driver and direct X.

For the VGA driver, go to the official web of your VGA card and download the newest. The one on your notebook driver site/disc are mostly outdate and missing feature.

Yeah, there's mods for AA2 and Koikatsu that unlocks the gay stuff.
And the closest I saw for the newer games was making "trap" characters with the female base, messing around in the Studio to make two guys fuck and making two guys hug each other in RoomGirl.

Shaders are often just a material/shader swap + some post processing layer and plugin code to handle the camera/rendertexture buffers.

Yes but probably a lot less reliable, bone mod was originally just swapping out the transform values of bones at runtime but has since become a time sensitive thing that needs to happen at specific points each frame. It's still possible, crudely, even if the code is a blackbox.

Yes, the MMD stuff remaps animations. Whether via IK or real frames, it's possible.

The technical asapects aside, the real question isn't whether something can be done but rather whether something will be done.

I think modders will catch on eventually. There's no real urgency or anything, graphically it's BARELY an improvement over HS2, and the game itself is shit but illusion will probably recycle 90% of the codebase for their next 3 piles of shit, so modders would probably want to start getting familiar with it eventually.

You say that as if they won't just quit modding illusion games entirely.
There has already been a number of games skipped over or otherwise starved for mods, Secross or EC being the most obvious examples.
Naturally if the game is good enough, they will learn and they will produce new content for those systems, this kind of hinges on the titles themselves not being shit though.
There are tons of tiltes out there where time could be better spent and people will move on as they have already been doing.
Unless some obsessed diehards come along and put all of their energy in, modding will die off.

Do people even care about this game? I heard from HS modders that they doesn't care since it has a bad mod support, and the studio is pretty much the same as their previous installment.
At the very least that they can salvage and backport the outfits to HS2/AI.

AI has gameplay and PH has great rape scenes but even then they still flops, I dunno what they're trying to do with this shitty low effort sims trash.
Then again, even if they made AA3/KK2 or even HS3, not sure if the content creators would migrate since there's already shitton of mods keeping it alive for years. Truly the Skyrim of adult game.

There's no pose unlock (for free H anyway, for normal mode you just have to get the girl to get used to sex to unlock some of them). They're depended on map and the spot.
Are you sure you picked the right spot?
And before you ask, yes the game IS that limiting when it comes to specific position.
Can't even do kissing sex outside specific spots.

Is there a way to change the hot key for screen shots? on my new windows 11 laptop the F11 is mapped to the snipping tool, and everytime I press F11 in game - it won't save the screen shot to cap folder, only brings up the snipping tool
