I love moms and I'll admit that the son's discomfort is part of the appeal, but I have no real malice. I want to see women treated well and the sons eventually realising that she's being taken care of and coming to peace with her choice. She can have a kinky, adventurous, fulfilling sex life with her new partner and still be a good mother.
Now, if the man in question is the son's friend, then it complicates things. The friend has clearly overstepped a very important boundary and that's a good enough reason to hate him. The mother would know this and her balancing her desire to continue the relationship with her need to keep it secret is where the drama comes from. Personally I prefer it when the mom starts banging someone the son is friendly with, but not an equal to: Tutors, teachers, coaches, older kids, etc... The power dynamic makes more sense and it kind of shoves the son further down the totem pole.
