Griffith then finds Guts, & Casca can see that Griffith wants Guts.. Griffith wont ever 'want' Casca in the same way no matter what she does, no matter her loyalty or sacrifice. Infact, it seems Guts does the opposite yet Griffith values him the highest.
So, we then have Casca & Guts connecting. The first time either character has ever connected. Both are in love with each other. Some time goes by & Griffith is rescued but he has falled from grace, no longer above everyone he is a burdin & below everyone.
He sees Guts & Casca, he can see they're in love. He can see the way Casca is looking at Guts, & how Guts looks at her. Griffith then tries to mount Casca when she reels away he realises that everything he once was or is has been destroyed.
He then fights with himself, as soon as he gets back ontop he rapes Casca infront of Guts, knowing they're both in love with eachother.
