Do you organize your hentai in any way? With sources and tags and stuff, like a booru? Or just divided in folders? One image can only be in one folder, but using tags would require special software.

This is exactly the thread I was looking for. I've got a modest collection of 90.9gb of hentai anime and I'm trying to figure out a good way to organize it all. I've currently got it split between raw and subtitled w/ the subtitled folder split into genres such as vanilla, ntr, monsters, etc although I find this to not be enough and have tried to organize it by studio as well (t-rex, pixy, etc). I'm looking for that perfect setup where I can find things easily without having a huge cluttered mess. I've got a great system for h-manga and doujins using Comic Rack since I can tag in that.

Try something like https://github.com/amoffat/supertag ? I'm using Hydrus Network as I mostly collect images, but I guess if you're not on Windows Supertag could work for your use case.

Yeah I'm using Windows so that wouldn't be an option. I've done some decent formatting for JAV videos and folders although that's a bit easier since I'm doing it by actress or fetish (gal, busty, big ass, etc). This is an example of how I've done some of those video files to have tags:

[ABCD-123] - Actress Name (gal, group sex, facial)

I basically try to keep those down to three primary tags. I suppose I could just do this format for videos and then sort them into folders by studio.

Does Hydrus support image families and/or pools yet? My biggest issue with it is that you can't say "these handful of images go together" without making an entire tag just for them.

I currently have 6k doujinshi on my pc, I orginize them as followed:
I first sort everything by rating (1-5) on how much i liked it.
I then give each doujinshi my personal top 3 tags.
example: [hypno, body mod, futa] (name doujinshi)

This method really works for me, since I modified everything to my personal interpertation.

It's far from perfect, and not practical when you need to sort by any genre. But I only sort my doujinshi so I can quickly find one thats on my mind at that moment.
And then I just recall how much I liked it, and it's main theme. So I usually find any doujinshi within a minute.

Still mostly shit; that's my biggest gripe against it. There's a collection thing with page numbers and such, but no easy way to import them unless you're importing from neatly named files. I usually go with namespaced tags ("pixiv id:xxxxx") but I don't/can't collect entire doujins because of this. Great for random interesting 4chan threads though, the watcher is amazing for this.

Screenshot is from the documentation; it looks like a mess with all the "page:xx" tags IMO...

Also it's still being maintained with a new version weekly, which is a big plus in my book.

That sounds decent enough, but I get how much of a scaling problem you have on your hands; I'm not sure what solutions exist for Windows though, unfortunately.

Yeah, and ignoring the scaling issue I'd have to sit there and watch/skim through every single video since there isn't a site I'm aware of that would give me a good tag reference for hentai anime like ex/ehentai can do for manga/doujins.

For parodies, each series with 10 or more has its own folder.
Each character in them with 10 or more has its own folder with symlinks.
For crossovers there's a symlink to the other series.
For original works, books and other multi-work series have their own folders, artists with 10+ have their own folder, otherwise sorted by convention/magazine release/tank.

Every chapter is a separate file with tags relevant to it at the end, including my rating.

I have 10k+ files sorted like this.

I don't need a life. This is it.
