An apocalyptic scenario where mom and son have to do it or just plain want to because they're just that isolated? Sure, that works. You literally just put more effort into this than most hentai writers.
It could be anything really. A gang of thugs breaks into a house and forces the mom and son to have sex for their amusement.
Or how about a woman is raped and a seemingly unrelated guy is cheated on. They both go home and it turns out they're a mother and son. Being they're both in a bad place emotionally and sexually they fall into the trap of trying to reclaim their sexual autonomy and bang. Then they have to deal with the aftermath of that.
Or how about a mother and son go to the same costume party without the other knowing and a game of seven minutes in heaven or a key party breaks out and they don't realize they're fucking each other until he's already cummed in her a few times.
Or the son is a NEET going through emotional problems because he's still a virgin and after trying everything else his mom realizes he's too far behind his peers and has to play catch up so she decides to guide him through the process with her.
And it's not just the scenario. Even in good scenarios they often get ruined because the writing is just so bad. So much dialogue is wasted on describing the scene that you're already looking at or literally reciting what a character is feeling. I don't need the mother to say "I'm so ashamed!" If she's ashamed then prove it. If I had a nickel for every violation of show, don't tell I could open my own anime studio.
