That's actually a much more elegant approach than the one I took for the official English release of TF. I worked around the pluralism, but using code to determine whether or not to use it is a lot smarter.

You could not grab her butt. Which mods are you attempting to remove? You could just load up your original 2.5.2 again instead of trying to reverse-engineer it. Most of the mods overwrote existing files, so there's no way to really "disable" them.

I'm not talking about the image overlays, I'm talking about the actual logic that branches from "Rest in the Shade" giving you the option to Kiss Her, or it just saying "we sat there for a while". Whether you even have the option to sex her, clothing overlay or otherwise, is determined by what clothing she's wearing.

There's sex scenes that proceed even with custom clothing, but obviously they just don't show up in the sex scenes. This scene alone is gated behind certain clothing being worn, I think.

Let me explain to you how internet works in this country; english it's obviously not my first language, and it's a really long explanation so be patient please. Also, if you don't want the explanation and just want to get straight to the point go to the "*" on the third part of this comment.

First of all, let me just tell you 2 things: 1- ETECSA, the only phone and internet company in Cuba it's a blood-sucking thirsty leech when it comes to money, and 2- Minimum salary here it's 250CUP per month, and medium salary it's around 879CUP per month, that's 35,16CUC (1CUC = 24~25CUP and 1CUC = 1USD if you change the money in the banks here), so having said that, here's a cuban's guide to the internet:

There are 3 main ways to get internet on Cuba:

1- Mobile Data: Internet via mobile data it's a relatively new thing here, it was implemented just a couple years ago, so it's not easily usable in all the country. The 2 best options when it comes to this are the 4CUC for 1GB and the 8CUC for 2,5GB (pic related), maybe it's a good price for a foreigner, but that's around 1/8 and 1/4 of our medium payment respectively, not so cheap, but affordable.
So either you buy one of those 2 and pray for it to last 31 days like i'm doing right now, or say goodbye to using internet frequently. Also those 2 are exclusive for people with 4G, something that's not so common here, and you need to get the signal, which it's really hard or literally impossible to get unless you are in the centric areas of the main cities.

The only exceptions i know to this are the ones at CUJAE and UCI, the only 2 technology-focused universities in Habana, with 10 and 15Mb/s respectively, if my info isn't wrong, but only people that are students or professors there can use them (and again, if my info isn't wrong, those 2 are free)
There are 2 minor negative point to this: 1- The computers there are configured in a way that you can't open almost any .EXE, (with the obvious exceptions of Firefox, Internet Explorer, and a couple of browsers more), install anything, or change those settings; it also erases anything on it when you log out or turn off the computer, so better bring an USB if you are going to download anything. Nothing really important for the matter here.

So, this is the better option for downloading things.

Also, there´s another 2 ways for using internet:

4- You buy a router for yourself and pay ETECSA 15CUC per month to get internet on your PC at home, (but no, it isn't an unlimited connection, i'm not sure how much it is though), great option, but pretty overpriced.

5- You use a program to share your mobile data connection with your PC/Laptop. The 2 bad points of this are 1- You are using your data, so you can easily waste the money this way; and 2- You need to get the signal in your phone (so it's really not an option for me, because my house it's on a really remote place of Habana, and i barely get any signal for the mobile data network at all).

With things like this, it looks like the best thing i can do is to save the link and buy a VPN service with option 1, then download the game with option 3 but no, anon, it won't work; when i said "I can't buy anything on internet" i meaned it.

*The reason for that it's because you can't "link" (unsure if this is the correct term, i don't really know how to translate this or even if i know the correct term in spanish) your cuban bank accounts to the internet, even if you have the money, you can't use it for anything outside this country.
The only way for this to work is to have a bank account in another country; this is normally done this way: You send money by mail to a family member in USA, or wherever they live, tell them to open an account, they do it, tell you the password and other things, and then if you buy some physical object and not something purely digital like this they'll mail it to you.
Sadly i don't have any family in other countries, and no, i don't trust people enough to do this with friends or some random stranger online.

And yes, i already feel guilty enough for having to use a pirated version of the game, because i really want to give Ray, the game developer, something for his work; but hey, literally 100% of the games, anime, and pretty much any digital product in Cuba it's pirated, so anonymously begging in a forum won't make it worst for me.

The problem here is two-fold: one is that the assets are simply not existing, and assets being non-existent means that you cannot use them to render scenes. The second problem is that Ray is a fucking moron when it comes to programming; everyone who's had a look at the unpatched pleasure bar rendering can attest to that - whole bunch of if-else batches that had single draw commands rather than setting parameters for the final draw command, or heaven forbid dynamic parameter calculation. I'd know; I'm the faggot who fixed that code.

Another game (lewd RPG Maker game) I had been working on a couple years ago had the concept of changing armour based on damage received in battle. The author (not Ray, but someone unrelated to him) had statically defined specifc events for each set of clothes and each type of damage that clothing could sustain, which would take up to about 100 global event slots. Those slots took up a lot of space, were redundant like hell, buggy as fuck, and also slow since event code is its own interpreted set of instructions that had to be executed in an Ruby environment first (which was already interpreted).

The fix I had for this situation involved working outside the engine, on a Ruby level, and maintain a small datatree to specify the armour file, the amount of damage that set of armour could sustain, and what type of armour the set should chance to once it sustained enough damage. After that all I had to do was write a function that would do the damage calulcation, and call it after every battle, and that released 100 event slots never to be called again.

TF has no such data tree. It's like the fucking 100 global event slots all over again, but in code form (which is even more inexcusible since Ray has actually done some programming himself). Each scene with variable clothing is just another if-else-batch from hell.

New for 3.0.0 are a brand-new "New Game" menu that asks you what your player name is, and what game mode you want to play in. There are three options. Normal, Relaxed, and Platonic. Normal and Platonic are self-explanatory. Relaxed is Normal, except that it's harder to get the items for drugs, and Sylvie doesn't just naturally get horny all on her own. So it's exactly as it sounds.

Also shown off are some nice new UI changes to the closet, and some additional nice upgrades Ray brought over from the English version (like the new Log system, and the new Save/Load system).

In addition, 3.0.0 updates the Tyrano system to the latest version, which means no more x86 support. x64 only.

When he went from the 1.0 to 2.0 branch he actually only rewrote the speech lines (to work with animation) and rewrote certain background elements that required new calls due to the newer Tyranoscript. But this time around the Tyrano update was apparently so radical that he had to just rewrite most of the game instead. We shall see.

So the game files are only about 100MB--but there's two copies of them. One for Mac, one for PC. No clue why you'd make a copy but whatever.

So then after looking at that, that's only 200MB...so where's the other 1.6GB? Well, it's in this mysterious file called "TF_main.tpatch." This appears to have something to do with the ability to patch the game.

This file is just a ZIP archive with the extension renamed, and contains all of the assets in the game that are likely to change--so it contains all the actual graphics, scripts, etc. The 100MB data in the game folder itself is stuff that isn't likely to change, such as BGMs, startup scripts, etc.

This pretty much defeats the entire purpose of "patching" the game being better than redownloading the game, since the patch file would have to be replaced every time and it's what's so massive. I'd love to hear Ray's logic here.

If his logic is that you can release a patcher for the patch file--such as xdelta--then that's dumb because you can just as easily xdelta the directory. But whatever.

Also all the base directories for the game are totally different from every other previous version of the game. It's just weird. I don't have time to really tear into this tonight, but tomorrow after work I'll get into it.

This'll be fun to work with. All of us who want to do translations and mods are probably going to have to switch to using xdelta patches going forward. The days of drag-and-drop are dead unless I can find a way to easily link additional patch files into the game's startup script.

UPDATE: The first time you run the game, whatever is in the tpatch gets extracted to the appropriate game folder, then the tpatch file is deleted and the game program restarts. It then loads straight from the local directory.

So okay, that explains that. It means that patches can indeed just be applied fairly simply. It just means that the first load takes freaking forever because it's extracting some 1.5GB of data from a ZIP file. So when you download this, make sure you've got at least 5GB of free space wherever it is.

And when you close the settings menu it redraws that screen again as well. Nothing seems to be cached in any sort of intelligent way, which makes playing it on anything other than a nice SSD feel like you're playing a game from the 90s.

And that's not even talking about the main menu UI design. Buttons that overlap the border, separation elements that look like visual glitches instead of a unified part of the UI language...just....why.

I'm still gonna try to work some magic here, but I've got a lot of work cut out for me, it would appear. Can't wait to see if the TL plugin still works. That should be fun...

Isn't this the old Windows approach? Windows in Windows traditionally didn't store the content of a window in memory because Windows is *so* old that there simply *wasn't* enough memory available to store said window contents. Instead, whenever a section (often referring to the entire window) needed to be redrawn said section would be invalidated, causing the OS to send WM_PAINT messages to the message loop. All sections then needed to be updated at some point, lest there be more WM_PAINT messages be sent; if you ever saw a window flickering on moving or resizing or moving another window over it, it's because the WM_PAINT message isn't handled properly (single buffering if nothing else, but then again why would you use GDI rendering in the first place if you have hardware-accelerated rendering in the first place). That approach of course means that the assets you use to draw your content already better be in memory, because loading that shit from HDD would take a lot of time.

This way of rendering also fucks them over for High DPI scaling because there's a lot of applications that just assume 96 DPI and thus need to retain internal coordinates, requiring output scaling rather than being natively rendered appropriately.

Never. But that's just because I have a bunch of ancient games that will only run in this mode, and don't have anything that won't run in this mode, so I just leave it in JP locale mode all the time.

Also, in terms of immediate changes to be aware of, be aware that Sylvie cannot live on headpats alone. Even if you do all the right choices, if all you do is headpat, she will still die. So just be aware that conversation is part of a (former) slave's well-balanced diet.

I had a look at the patch application code. The game looks for three specific files and installs whichever is present.

TF_beta.tpatch = Beta test update
fix_TF.tpatch = Regular bugfix
TF_nori.tpatch = Mosaic -> Bar Censor patch

He doesn't have an example of that last one up yet (he's been too busy fixing bugs), but it should be easy enough to figure out. I'll see if I can toss together a decensor patch today.

Anyway, while assembling the decensor patch I found that Ray had gone and redrawn a few things. For example, the scenes where Sylvie is just standing and lifting her dress (whether it's the 'touch' scene at the beginning or the 'beg' scene later on), Sylvie is now less anorexic.

Which is nice and all, but he changed the angle of her body ever-so-slightly, which of course means I can't just copy and paste the uncensored portion of my existing asset, since the angle of her crotch is different too. So I'll just call it a v0.9 decensor, I guess. An artistic type will have to volunteer to try their hand at decensoring the new stuff.

That said, the release version of the game already has an uncensored masturbation scene, so that's nice.

It has the 1.7.9 uncensor, a decensor & uncensor pack I don't recall now who created (he got lucky and Ray sent him a few uncensored assets), some minor decensoring done by me and all of it is edited to bring it as close to the 2.5.2 censored assets as I could.
I've given 3.0.0 a quick look and it seems that the assets are the same as in 2.5.2.

Also in that patch there's a fixed translation plugin that should work for Electron (the update function is fixed).

If you want to be autistic like me for these kinds of things take a look at H_oral/a3.jpg or a8.jpg in your pack and the version in the OP translation patch.
There's also my "I've tried" decensor of data\fgimage\TF\Hx1\hands's f0, f1 and f2 there.

Some stuff I've found:
x_2/body -> has improper order/naming.
x_1/body -> delete b5.png as it's an unused duplicate of b5a.png
nurse/xr/2.png -> is closer to the censored one in the OP
missional/ef2 -> removed some transparency issues and gaps in the images in the OP
front/xr -> 4 should be 5 and 5 should be 4
You can also losslessly optimize the pngs for a ~20% size reduction.

Also WinMerge with "Enable image compare in folder compare" is your friend (running it on a patch vs vanilla jp version makes it easy to uncover mistakes and asset differences).

I saw the notes but since they talked about 'compression' I disregarded them since ours were based on the PSDs. But by not actually checking the images against the censored raws for 3.0, I see that what I missed was the slight redraw between 1.7.9 and 2.x/3.x. It's subtle, but it's there, so I've now swapped your versions in for ease.

As for the rest, I've moved your "I've tried" decensor into the patch for now--comparing against the nori versions, there doesn't seem to be much difference in the details, so it's good enough. I'd bitch about the urethra seemingly being missing but it appears to be that way underneath the censor bar too so eh, tevs. That's on Ray.

Yup. Fixed all the bugs I reported thusfar, so good on Ray. 3.0.0 was kinda messy, but every new initial release has been. The patch system has meant that fixes come a shitload faster than in the past, which is nice.

Made a quick and dirty translation patch for v3.0.12 while we wait for TL-kun's translation.

For whatever fucking reason the translation plugin produces "RangeError: Maximum call stack size exceeded" errors on 64bit Electron or NW.js, so I provided a 32bit version on which it doesn't happen for me.
I also had to use my tyrano parser bugfixes so [tx_image] macros can render spaces, so I just placed my whole tyrano fork in there while I was at it (should be a little bit faster than the vanilla one).

TyranoScript is a JavaScript library, Teaching Feeling is a browser game and Electron / NW.js is just Chromium. So whatever rendering interface Chromium uses.

By compression I meant that the 1.7.9e uncensored assets in the bgimage folder were saved in a slightly lower image quality than the censored assets. So I copy-pasted just the uncensored parts on top of the higher quality censored assets and done some minor fixes for a few of them while I was at it too. Take my H_nurse & H_rape from bgimage if you want them.

BTW, in your nori patch nurse/xr/2 is still the old one and you can remove missional/ef2/9 as it's the same as in jp 3.0.0.

Depends on his rig. It's minimized if you run on a decently fast PC with a decently fast SSD. I only brought it up because I had to move all my dev shit off my SSD and onto an external, which exacerbates every single I/O call.

It's still a problem, but if he's running on a fast machine with a fast SSD, it may not bother him enough to notice. Similar to how he and I didn't notice the freeze during the command H-scene--because it didn't happen on fast machines, only on slower ones.

For whatever reason the game comes with its data in a zip file and on the first launch it needs to decompress it, then copy it to the right place. Depending on how fast your HDD is it might take from 30 sec to supposedly 30 minutes for some people.
fix_TF.tpatch should be placed in the main game folder (where the "TeachingFeeling.exe" executable is).
After you manage to get to the main screen search for and press "apply patch", wait until it restarts, then restart it manually once again. That's should be it.

This. Don't try to apply the translation patch until you've run the game the first time and allowed the game to decompress. It can take several minutes if you have the game on a hard drive instead of an SSD.
