There are 3 installation guides in OP, which one should I follow? If I'm not mistaken, the order of installation should be:
Base game (from New paste) -> BepInEx or IPA (from Alt-Install)

What's the difference between Bepin and IPA? Mainly I just want the VNGE to start animating.

There's only 2. Old paste is for resource.
New paste is installing everything manually. It's also outdated.
Alt paste uses two packs, both of which come with essentials.

What you use doesn't matter for VNGE. BPN is just more convenient, but it comes with a minor bug involving typing that still hasn't been resolved.

If you're animating, you might want to try Joan's Timeline mod.

Just run the game, pretty sure you don't need to patch wide slider for Bepinex.

However I recommend using IPA instead, Bepinex's IPALoader doesn't work with some IPA plugins and it was pretty buggy for my last heavily modded installation

I don't mind getting technical here because I want to learn and avoid having to ask again. Coming from PlayClub, this shit is bananas compared to the simple Hongfire patch which was all we had to install.

IPA and BepinEX are frameworks for plugins. IPA came first and plugins were developed for it (these go in the Plugin's folder in the root).

BepinEX was developed later and can load IPA plugins as well (these also go in the Plugin folder in the root) through IPAloaderX (a plugin exlusively for BepinEX).

Main differences: BepinEX supports auto Google translation through its own plugin while a IPA installation has a custom translation patch (it also has auto translation but you can disable the regex for performance).

HSResolveMoreSlotID was developed with IPA in mind so features like managing plugins doesn't work with BepInEX (these are minor)

TLDR: Minor differences at a first glance, you can't go wrong with IPA, move to BepInEX later on if you want to experiment with it. And read the documentation on GitHub if you are more curious

I'm assuming you're >>5892867. If you want to start animating you need to look into NodeConstraints and either VNGE or Timeline. Animation is done through NodeConstraints and attaching bones to pistons (for movement) VNGE (more accurately SceneSaveState but it's included in VNGE) or Timeline offers options to define keyframes (like in animation) to toggle on or change different properties. "Most" of these plugins are made by Joan and can be found on his site (just search his name and "Honey select plugin"). VNGE is made by Keitaro and can be found on discord since Hongfire died.

As for the differences and usage, read the documentation on hs-help channel in the discord and experiment with each.

Get Joans Timeline instead. Surprisingly well made mod although lacking some convenient tools like more elaborate Undo buttons. And no obvious onion skin/onion skin trajectories either.

You want to download all the major Joan mods along with it. HSPE allows you to edit, stretch, rotate or resize individual bones from a body, so you can do stuff like floating heads, giant heads, rotating Accessories, giving her giant breasts, creating long "blowjob lips", your imagination is the limit.

And the best part of it all? With latest version of Timeline mod, you can animate all of that, only limit is your own skill and patience.

So I got what's supposed to be a girl on girl event(the girl was looking for me but she couldn't find me then the other girl came and asked for some actions) but when the loading finished, the girl just stood in the middle of the map and there's nothing that I could do. LRE is Linear Rendering Experiment and IBL is Image Based Lighting. I don't know what LRE use for (maybe that make texture more realistic) but IBL is the plugin to change game lighting.

the card have data written in them thats accessed through the creator. You put the card it, it reads the data and then shows you the character. So you just put the card into your chara folder and viola you have it in game. Any mods on the card you might be missing will obviously not show up if not installed. Bonemod files are just custom adjustments to a card using a 3rd party app, you just throw them in with the card. Make sure they're the same name.

Hey guys, I figured out the solution to my problem and wanted to share in case there are any of my fellow "main-game only" scum present or future that want to know:

To change the font size of subtitles in the main game, you go to the \Plugins\UITranslation\Translation.ini file and change the "iFontSize=" parameter. Minimum allowed is 0. I also recommend changing the font from Arial to Calibri, as it takes up even less space.

On Joans own page theres plenty. Timeline itself is like a simpler version of a timeline you see in actual 3D modelling- and animation programs. The only real difference is its lacking a lot of features that make the process of animating easier and more convenient. But if you know anything about animation, the mod is sufficient enough to do good animations from scratch, or simply to enhance already existing animations.

For example you can take the Deepthroat preset animations, but then use the HSPE to give the guy a super-long giant dick instead. But you can actually animate this dick so that it bends inside her throat during the movement and doesnt go through her neck. And you can make animate her throat- and cheek bulges too.

It wasn't deleted, I loaded another girl's appearance and clothes since cause I wanted to see something with her pose. But my brain farted and I clicked save and exit.

yes, card data is written directly after IEND block, some plugins also use extsave plugin and append additional data.
it's also a quick way to test whether what you downloaded was any card at all, just throw it into hex editor and search for IEND
naturally, game only supports *.png files.

Those are just a list of animations from the base game, you have to position them yourself. Click the character name in Workspace and you get the box in the bottom where you can change its position, rotate or it scale it. You can either click and drag on the colored arrows, or put in numbers on the box. Basic 3D object tools you see in pretty much every 3D program too.

You can use some AI Shoujo cards in HS2 though, but the mod only work on their own game.

Example pic related, made a simple latex mask by drawing on top of the exported face texture with Photoshop. Put it in game and the skin shine effect already makes it look like latex.

You should have basic IK bone movement tools even without mods. (Up left windows). If you cant see the window boxes on the top left like in the picture, then you might have fucked up the installation somehow.

Advance IK is good for attaching body parts so they stay attached to a moving object, so its good for say if you want the guy to grab the girl from the hair when she's giving him a blowjob, or keeping her hands tied together.

But active IK body parts fuck up the preset animations. If you want to do proper animating, then using Joan's Timeline mod instead is a better option.

holy hell, I tried it for IK posing animation and it's so horredously complicated, there's potential to do some cool stuff but it lacks a lot of simple features like the option to get all nodes' information at once, instead you have to do node by node, on top of that yo can't drag select several keyframes, you have to control+click one by one, it's nightmarish.

Yeah, its more barebones than in proper 3D programs. That being said its not impossible to do stuff with it. Remember basic rule of human motion: Most movement tends to come from hips and waist, so animation those first can be a big help.

It could use an "animate" button, as in you check that button to "ON", and then you could just pick a place in timeline, then you changing IK positions and whatnot automatically add a node into the timeline. This is the way 2D-animation program Toon Boom makes its motion tweening a bit easier.

Also even many of the basic lighting options in Studio Neo seem not to really do much when you fuck around with them, although whether that's my own retardation or a genuine limitation is something I don't know for sure. If you just click the Mod folder, you realize part of it goes to abdata anyway, and there might be something that goes to somewhere else too. If its not an outright plugin mod, usually it goes to abdata.

With maps, you have to model them in Unity by yourself, so better option is to simply look for map mods. Also in order for maps to work, you need a plugin that makes the game recognize them in the first place. A lot of people simply masks common maps with heavy lighting. Not sure if it was Joan mod or someone else's which add this black box in the picture. I'm sure the pastebin or Joan's patreon might have lighting mods.

What you should remember is that a lot of people who make cool looking images simply use the trick of making moody lighting in otherwise dark scene where the original lights have been turned off. And then they might upload some evening/night backround image on the sky. Basically the same tricks of creating atmospheric environments with moody lighting, that you also see in video games.

I'm also trying to figure out if there might be something wrong with my copy of Studio Neo, if I'm just being retarded, or if the program just have very limited functionality with mods. Specifically, many of the basic lighting settings (without mods) don't seem to even work. Most of them literally do nothing at all to the scene no matter how much I tweak them. The other thing is when I load a girl in, each one also has a drop-down menu in the work window that looks like it's supposed to allow custom-posing with individual bodyparts, but there doesn't seem to be a way to actually interact with this feature.

If its all blank, then your installation may be fucked up. You should follow the installation guide on the pastebin in OP's link, its very important that first the Honey Select you have has the final official updates installed. And then you have to install plugins in specific order, otherwise things might get screwed up and it wont work properly.

Once all the necessary plugin mods have been installed, then adding mods shouldnt fuck it up again. But you need a plugin that makes the StudioNeo recognize the new assets in the first place. Either HSREsolveMoreSlotID or a mod called H.i.RNeo (Honey Item Resolver). They have their own instructions how to make them work.

The HSPE button on the left down corner is one of the best mods, allows a more detailed control of bones, including stretching, resizing or making them disappear.

Yeah, I have those FK and IK things, but I've never been able to figure out what they're good for. All I've ever been able to get them to do is to revert the chosen body parts into something like their position in the default pose while preserving the pose of the others. That "size" bar also does absolutely nothing in my game, or at least I haven't been able to figure out what it does.

The drop-down menu I was thinking of is the thing under the Workspace with the pink-highlighted options in the pic, which I also have in my game, but they don't appear to be able to do anything whatsoever.

(cont), if you're into bondage, know that you can attach items into characters with ctrl+cilck first highlighting the master object, then ctrl+click the object you want to attach, then press the attach button on the bottom of the Workspace window. This way you can attach things like mouth gags on her mouth without having to move it separately every single time you change position.

Also mods to consider using is AdvancedIK if you're into bondage, you can attach body parts to one another so that when you move left wrist, right wrist follows it around, easier to make scenes where woman is tied up somehow. Combine with it HSPE and you can do stuff like a guy grabbing her from the ponytail or from the head. And AdvanceIK can make the guys head attach to the woman's head during the H-animations.

And finally if you're good enough or feel like learning, theres Joan's Timeline mod which is basically giving HS its own semi-primitive animation tools.

Thanks, this is actually legitimately very helpful. I had no idea about that ctrl+click feature. I'll try installing AdvancedIK, but I'll probably need to find a way to get a lot more objects in the game, since the BDSM toys/furniture it comes with are extremely limited.

They're both ways to control the body parts. What you want to do is press FK&IK on the bottom to activate both, IK are the bones you can move around by clicking on them, the 3 buttons on the bottom are move, rotate and scale (scale doesnt work on bones by in vanilla, you need HSPE mod).

If nothing seems to happen, press the light button on IK first, then try pressing FK&IK again.

What FK&IK does is it divides the bones so IK controls limbs, while FK is good for controlling things like hair, breasts and neck. Good idea to do your own motions first is to pick some preset positions, then do simple things like moving a hand or beck first, just to practice how all that works. Example theres a whole bunch of premade Sitting positions in the position list, that you can turn into tied up- or bondage versions of themselves with changing the positions of the hands, shoulders and waist a bit.

Example image I took a preset position pose, then simply moved the hand and fingers a little. The arm, elbows and shoulders with IK, and I made her flip the finger with the help of FK.

You can create ballgags with your own by using available rings and then making them out of basic shape. Or from the Dildo H-item. Search for mods by guang, he has more BDSM gear mods.

And get creative with assets you got. You can make an easy pig nose hook by simply resizing the preset Crotch Divider into a tiny size. To make her nose actually bend with a nosehook though, either you need to do that in character creation (the convoluted way), or you install the HSPE mod and modify the nose bones. Since its scene-specific change, it doesnt alter your character beyond that one scene so it way better and easier.

No worries, tinker with those things first and when you feel comfortable for them, start looking especially for Joan's mods. HSPE allows you to do crazy stuff like giant boobs, or detach her limbs, any /d/ or even /guro/ tier thing you can imagine. Then Renderereditor which allows you to modify textures. Also allows you to do stuff like recolor items you usually cant recolor, like the H-item dildo. Or make some clothes transparent (if the particular mod supports transparency). And theres mods for built-in animating and exporting videos straight from the program without needing tertiary recording software.

Basically only your imagination, effort and endurance of penis are the limits once you get all the mods going. ONLY thing you cant really do at all is split the female model in half from head to toe. Not with these mods at least, you would need a specific 3D model for that.

Forgot to mention, when your workspace starts getting too crowded, for instance if you decorate some 3D environment mod and theres like 10+ Custom Light sources and 8 tables with notebooks on them, press the folder button on Workspace. This makes a seemingly empty object in yellow. Press the Animate button to rename it. What it does is group up and categorize the objects within your project, so you can say add a folder named "Decorations", then ctrl-click the folder, then ctrl+click all the decorations and attach them to the folder. The folder hides them inside, until you click the folder open.

Trust me, if you do a big scene, the Workspace window will become a complicated mess so using folders is useful.

You can just click the grey box and drag it. Or you click the colored arrows if you only want it to move to one direction. If anything else fails or you want very specific tiny changes, bottom left you see all the numerical values for move, rotate and scale, that you can edit by just adding or reducing the numbers.

Also, go to Options and put Additional Positioning Object to "Gaze", this means when you add a new object, it adds it straight where you're looking at. Helps keeping objects close to each other especially when youre dealing with big maps.

If your camera screws up or you cant find some object you're looking for, click the object on Workspace then press F hotkey, that makes the camera immediatly change its position right next to the object you clicked.

And third navigating advice, sometimes two objects you want close are very far away from each other. Simple fix is to click one object, see what its Position numeric values are, then type in the same numeric Position values for the other object. Now they're together again.

Basically everything is standard stuff which comes with the game or the repacks and you can also make your own syringes etc via basic shapes in studio neo.

The enema tank looks like it´s a combined item from syringe, basic shaped etc and the hose is also taken from one of the basic items, just tricky implemented.

The white dot is because you're using another mod that removes watermark.
Honeyshot also uses different keys to take screenshots. It ignores F11.

No one knows what kind of maps you are looking for. Cities? Rooms?

You can start with looking for maps in the Discord. A lot of scenes I've seen use guangxihou's maps.

Thats quite literally how you "install" most mods anyway. You export them from the zip file and you're good to go. Its just that you need some kind of item resolver mod to help verify the new assets in the game. Which means you setup the itemresolver mod once, then just press "start" and it does everything automatically. Export the zip, then press a button, not very hard.

The picture in the card is just so much smoother, has better lighting, better skin, etc. I have HSResolveMoreSlotID and all the stuff is installed. And if I go to the specific card, the only errors are related to clothing.

allegretto mod, lets you use clothes in other slots (e.g, swimsuits to underwear).

ResolveId doesn't list it but just install allegretto and it should load ingame. You may have to adjust the settings in modprefs though.

It's the HSResolveMoreSlotID, it can help to fix most problem, it also help you read the card data (like my picture) and you can simply click the name to install missing mod.
Unfortunately it's database rather old so many file get deleted, so you must search their name with Google. Also some new mods are unknow or paid only like the xxx676.

Now if you're just installing for vanilla purposes then it's a breeze, but when it comes to the more elaborate stuff it gets more crazy and one wrong order fucks up the entire installation process.

Back up your game once you're satisfied, it'll save you lots of time in the long run just in case the game messes up somewhere down the road.

I have followed the pastebin and installed in this order:

When you install mods, you must replace them exactly right it father folder.
Like the [plasticmind] HSIBL Cubemaps studio mod, when you extract it, you must see they follow Studio 1-4\abdata\plastic\cubemaps\*.unity3d.
abdata is the father folder (most of time), that's why you must place those *.unity3d file inside abdata\plastic\cubemaps\ even if default not have cubemaps you must create it yourself.
Or normally just copy and past whole abdata folder and place it in same place of game abdata default.
