How do I discover good doujinshi?
I'm not asking where to download, but how to find stuff filtered by genres, artists/circles, rating, popularity, recommendations and such. Is there any such website like MAL, Anidb, etc. for doujin?
I've been really into anime and hentai for well over a decade, but just can't really break into doujin because I can't find stuff other than the accidental findings or random recommendation online.

Find an artist you like.
Find a fetish you like.
Work from there.

I tried to do recommendations, like you suggested, but people simply weren't interested in more than what already exist. Recommends are always going to be entirely subjective as well.

>randomly find one doujin you like, you can filter it to parody of some series if you want
>check artist name
>check his other work
>if it's good, you have one new good artist to remember
>check tags
>pick tags you think you like
>keep searching for another good doujin
>when you'll find another doujin you like, start from step 1

I have so many nice artists in my head that i keep forgetting/mistaing their names. I can recommend aoki kanji, oroneko, mitchiking, maybe akai mato, not tanabe kyou because fbi, but it all depends on your tastes and in the end you're gonna build your own name base anyway.

Yeah, I can see that happening. Recommendations are mainly good only until people are familiarized enough with the scene, artists they like, and so on to find thing by themselves.
So if you presented that to people who already are doujin fans they'd see no use to it. However, I find it really important to people starting to read it.
I see this clearly when recommending anime to people: if I try recommending stuff off the top of my head I'll often forget about the entry-level, easily digestible titles, and suggest something off putting (but arguably better) to beginners. That's where an established recommendations system really helps.

The manual approach, then. I'm hoping there exists a website where I can at least get notifications for when a "favorited" artists puts something out. So, you know, I don't have to remember dozens of names, heh, or keep checking every week manually.

goddamn it's more than obvious you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.
it's simple as fuck. you choose a manga/anime you like, and when you find one you like, check the artist other works. From here, you follow his social media, because doujin artists frequent comiket and they follow their favorite artists and their friends who also makes doujins.
Other than this, us just talking about your favorite doujins on the internet, be called out on your pleb taste and recieve new recommendations.
