Retake is drawn mostly as well and much, much better written than the actual official Evangelion manga, which was made by the character designer and despite being only half as long took 15 extra years to finish while Retake got its 700 or so pages done in two years.

I'm not kidding. An independent small circle which probably had to rely on the porn to make sales (which actually constitutes like 5% of the whole thing, and there's even a version with no porn and extra scenes, though I still recommend the original), managed to do a better job than the lazy and crappy official manga adaptation.

Meh it certainly has its problems. The way it handled Rei was just lazy. Still, it works very well as a "deconstruction of fanfics" and is still probably the best Eva fanwork out there.
