I know I'm not the only one this has happened to. I know I'm not the only guy whose cute tomboy childhood friend got convinced she wasn't a cute girl. I'm not the only one who wished he could tell her to stop: she didn't have to change, she was beautiful and perfect just the way she was. And I know I wasn't the only one who knew he couldn't say any of those things, because he'd lose her forever if he did, and she'd never have listened to him anyway. So he had to watch her become more and more unhappy, and more and more unhinged, while she surrounded herself with an increasingly toxic posse of deranged yes-man friends.
This must be a common experience at this point. It was a long ago for me -- one of the reasons I gravitated towards her back then was that we were both so much into internet culture (it was probably what made her vulnerable to trooning out in the first place) -- but I know it's even more tragically common now. My question is: has anyone made a story about that kind of thing? If they haven't, could they? Hell, I'd write the script myself if I thought a drawfag would be interested.
I'm usually not much of a fan of "wish fullfillment" anime or manga. The wishes of its consumers don't seem to be very similar to mine. But I know most of us tomboy-lovers are vanillafags at heart. It's why the fantasy in so many of our doujins is just making women happy: the whole "[SOB] NO ONE'S EVER CALLED ME PURRRRRTY BEFORE!" thing (even when they're usually WAY too attractive to not actually know it, irl).
So why doesn't someone do it already? Why not give one of these stories a happy ending for once? I know for a fact that it must be way more common among zoomer males right now than it ever was in my own generation, so I wouldn't be the only one this story was for.
