It'd be a action anime-esque show, set in some magical academy or whatever, with basic-ass archetypes young hot girls and young hot guys characters, full of ship teasing with all of them, all scientifically calculated to create the dumbest and toxiest shipping war environment possible.
The center-point of it all would be, of course, the main character; a cheerful girl who gets heavily ship teased with both a bland nice guy and a sexy emo girl in equal amounts.
It'd all come to a fever pitch at the last season, where a few of the other unimportant "low risk" ships are getting confirmed, the final battle looms in the horizon with high emotional stakes for every character. But unexpectedly, the subplot of the sexy emo girl repairing her relationship with her estranged mom (who was the main villain in a previous season) starts creeping up on importance/screen time.
Turns out her mother was her real love interest the entire time. Everything other plot thread gets completely abandoned in the last three episodes, as we get one episode for them processing/admitting their feelings and having their first kiss, then one episode for their marriage and the last episode is their honeymoon.
No, this isn't a parody of one specific show/game, just of shipping wars, I just think it'd be funny if a creator ever had a meltdown in that situation and decided to make a "problematic" ship canon out of spite.

Yeah I think my most effectively executed pieces skirt that percentage. I hear a lot of back-and-forth on how 'in a character's head' you should be, but I've noticed a lot of positive reception to letting their feelings out when you do get things from their perspective. I'm extremely critical of myself for writing what I think others will see as "looking right." It's torture, really, that undermines my writing process. Write self-indulgent pieces, it's good for you and the authenticity comes through in the piece. That being said yeah you definitely do want a balance unless you're avoiding a balance for a point. I've definitely written a chapter (most of a chapter) that's borderline illegible gibbering because the character had part of their brain turned off, and that got me a holy-shit-wow moment from a couple readers. People like the weirdness, they like things that stray from life. The more you think of how 'things are supposed to look' the more you strangle your creativity in the cradle. I say that, of course, from the position of someone who isn't selling their work to survive, so I can say that if someone doesn't click with my writings, oh fucking well lol.

I think that looking to published fiction, especially literary fiction like Joyce, isn't all that useful. If I read Dostoevsky, I anticipate multi page long philosophical monologues, and I enjoy it. When I read fanfiction, unless it's really really well written, I'm probably going to be skimming that monologue or giving up on the fic. In the fanfic context, readers are looking for something very different from a literary context not just in content but also in prose style (probably published romance fiction is a better model, but I don't read that stuff).

That said, I do think finding authors whose style you really like, and sitting down with their work, not letting yourself getting immersed, and looking at it from an author's rather than a reader's perspective, can be really valuable. I should do it more.

This is also really true. Fanfiction gives you the chance to break the rules and write weird, and who cares if it's going to be a turn off for most readers. As long as you're writing about lesbians, someone will appreciate it.

Back in my day, when phones had buttons and accidentally connecting to the internet could cost half the funds in your mobile account, I would copy and paste fics into a .txt file and convert them into .jar books. There were no paragraphs, no pictures, and no special fonts, yet I made do.

I'm @drawpilot on Twitter for my normal stuff and @dingdorfdraws for just the pee stuff. Both of those combined have most of the stuff that was on my Pixiv, minus a few alts here and there and some of the images in my old art dumps (ike my recent megaposts of my friends gals from pic related)
Also got a Bluesky @drawpilot.bsky.social but that ones newer and doesn't have a lot of my old stuff on it.

It is revealed that Amarariruku are fragments of Shine's (Teru's older sister) history. Specifically, the revived members are people Shine has helped or met before. Shy goes to Amarariruku to piece Shine together and resolve what exactly happened.

Stigma is an extension of Shine - the cultivation of her negative thoughts, isolation, and the period before she gained her heart via Shy.

This is where it becomes a bit hazy for me, since I don't read runes.

I read somewhere that for Amarariruku to be destroyed, Shy also needs to disappear. So Iko goes into a hero-saving journey, which is where we're currently at. Specifically, Iko walks into a room full of Shy fragments that represent her feelings. Shy is wishing everyone a farewell, but Iko smooches her to stop her nonsense.

On an unrelated note, I've been really enjoying Shy's opening for season one. Shiny Girl is a good song.

Oops, my bad for the Reddit spacing. Anyways, my favorite arcs so far besides Iko and Shy would probably be related to Aika's and Shine. I think the parallelism is well-written. Miki Bukimi tends to be a bit melodramatic with his backstories, but I think this goes for the superhero genre. 500iq to tease Aika's crush on Shy to just be an extension of her feelings for Shine.

Also, not going to lie, Lady Black's disability representation was really touching. I think about it often and I'm glad that Miki wrote it that way. Even if it was weird that Lady Black was literally walking with her stumps for one of the scenes
