some of us believe that by changing our appearence, behaviour and our hormones to that a typical womans, our social role changes to that of a woman as well, that's what's essentially what people mean when they say "trans women are women", not every tranny thinks this way btw, I personally prefer to say that those of us who've medically transitioned are a different kind of intersex
the reason why we go through all of this is because we suffer from gender dysphoria. gender dysphoria is basically a term for hating your own sexual characteristics, and wishing you had the sexual characteristics of the other sex, this is one of the biggest reasons why so many troons rope and what we hope to treat by transitioning. Many of us just don't even bother trooning out because of the stigma/costs associated with it, and just kill themselves instead while still a man
