>>8400698I've had the idea of weighted tags, but haven't been able to think of a good way to implement them.
First, you would have to determine the system of weighting. The most measurable way I could think of is going by percentage of pages containing that tag. Beyond that, I think it would just be some arbitrary measure of how important or present it is in the overall work. I don't find either to be a great solution.
Next is what you would even do with the weights. Would they be listed as visible numbers next to the tags on a work? How would it impact search results? Would you not list a work under searches for that tag if the weighting is extremely low (like 1 out of 250 pages for example)?
So clearly, what I have is just an idea and not a solution. I don't think it's even a workable idea as it stands. However, maybe it could function in the same sort of way as search-engine optimization. But I'm still not sure how that would work. I think it would still require much more detailed tagging, although I suppose more specific sub-tags could be hidden from the regular tag list to keep things cleaner on the surface.
I guess another possibility is per-page tagging, kinda like on image boorus, but that would require an immense amount of effort anyway. Might actually be awesome to be able to sort pages out by tags though. However, I think tags would probably need to be separated into "overall work" vs "individual page" type. For example, vanilla or ntr as overall work tags, whereas creampie or blowjob would be individual page tags.
Anyway, my ideas are terrible and I know it. I'm just kind of spitballing my thoughts on the matter because this issue has bugged me. This shit would all require way too much work to be remotely viable.
