>>3273878They do have nuns; the Catholic church does have a presence in Japan. As the other anon pointed out, there was a population of persecuted "hidden Christians" living in Japan ever since the Portuguese first made contact with them. However, since they had to live such a secretive religious life (due to Christianity being officially banned there until fairly recently), they ended up being mistrusted - a situation not unlike the Jews in Europe faced before WWII brought them to prominent attention.
As for why they're "all young and slutty", it's basically because at some point, someone in Japan heard about the concept of Catholic nuns (being virgins serving the divine and all) and said, "Hey, aren't those basically like our shrine maidens?"
The difference is, being a shrine maiden is a part-time job that doesn't require any permanent commitment unless your own family owns/runs the shrine you're working at - and even the virgin requirement isn't taken very seriously. This is a world of difference from nuns, who aren't allowed to take the job until they reach a certain age and commit to the position for life, having little to no interaction outside the church and its functions.
tl;dr - Japan cannot into Catholicism, thus they think nun = miko.
